Which side for the rear light?
I have a front and rear light which function off a Dynohub in the front wheel. The rear light was attached to the right rear which to me seems less visible when riding with traffic. I'm about the switch it over to the left, but thought I'd ask in case there is a reason for placing it on the right.
Also, do you have any suggestions for tidying up all the lighting system wires? I'm thinking about stitching some leather bands around the tubes to hold the wires in place. It would be like using a ribbon of leather instead of the zip ties that have been suggested by friends. There are some aluminum fasteners in place now, but I think the leather would be gentler on the frame.

Two or three of my bikes have light mounts on the right side, because they are English. Assuming that's the correct place for the lights in England, then the correct place in most other countries would be the left side. Nonetheless I leave the lights on the right side. If there's no frame mount, I either center them or put them on the left.
I like the idea of a thin leather strap with a snap. Where possible I run the wires under clips. Sometimes I spiral them around cable housing etc. I have never found a solution that works in every case; I always end up improvising.

Thanks to all. I'll be checking the other lighting thread for more suggestions or ideas. I'm going to move the light over to the left.

Light were likely on the right side in Europe, to be more visible in traffic. In North America, the light should go on the left side, to be more visible in traffic. Think about it.

Can you center it? Then it doesn't matter.

But I wear pairs of earrings.
On further examination last night, I realized the clamp could not be switched to the other side without more damage to the paint or possibly breaking it. I left it alone and added some extra lights I had packed for the ride home. I'll have to find another clamp for the left side or leave as is.
I finally got a good look at the front and rear lights. The front lens reads "Sturmey Archer" and I found "DYNAMO" on the rear bullet. Perhaps this is original to the bike or at least installed at the shop? I now see why you are all so possessed by these vehicles.
