26.4 alternatives besides cinelli?
HI guys... anybody knows if some other manufacturer came up with 26.4 handlebars besides cinelli?? specially new stuff??
Thanks. |
Pretty sure cinelli made the only 26.4 bars
|
Any 26.0 bar + beer can shim works with a cinelli stem.
|
I'm sure a beer can shim or just half of the Nitto or VO 25.4 to 26.0 shims will work with a 26.0 bar in a 26.4 stem.
|
Good alternative... thanks!!!
After many years finally put my hands in a R1 stem but now i need the handlebar, new cinelli handlebars cost a lot and basically dont worth it and used ones are usually expensive and in really bad shape. Since anatomical and flat handlebars work better for me i was thinking in the posibility of putting another brand of handlebars. Big chance a new model will be cheaper than a new 26.4 cinelli, well pretty much is a fact. I'll look into the shim. Thanks! |
Looks like Cinelli did a "Betamax" move with their 26.4 bars and stems. They have to remember, only the French got away with such goofiness!

I remember betamax, good analogy, Well now deda is going to 32 mm or something?? oversize oversize? :D
|
It's not well-known but there are some 26.2mm dia. Nitto drop bars and quill stems in existence, which is pretty close. Would require even less of a shim. Or might even clamp without the jaws bottoming out.
|
I bought an Ambrosio bar that was 26.4, and I liked it quite well.
Cinelli 26.4 clamps may not bottom out on a 26.0 bar, but the bolt will bottom out. I've seen a bike shop put a washer between the bolt and clamp and tighten that sucker up. I would not do it, as I prefer to keep my teeth. |
Yep, Ambrosio made them too. I have a pair of those.
