PX10? ill be picking it up in a few mins. but just want to run it by you guys. Sorry about photo quality, they aren't mine. I see a half chromed fork, black lugs, white paint with 70-74 logo and Ideal leather saddle. Any thoughts? |
I can tell from here it is not a PX10 since the rear stays are not chromed.
Can't say much more from the pics. |
Ah yea good point...now im debating weather i want it or not, does $135 seem ok? i am a newbie with french bikes but the white frame with black lugs seem to point to higher end

I don't think it is a PX-10, because the rear triangle isn't chromed. Some PX-10's had fully painted rear stays, but they were much later than '74. Better close-up photos would help. A PX-10 from this era should have a full DB Reynolds frame and fork. The Reynolds forks from this era had a crown with a raised chromed fillet bar. The crank should be a Stronglight 93. The headset should be Stronglight Competition. There should be no braze-ons except for the rear derailleur cable stop. Are there any Reynolds decals on the frame? |
Possibly a PA-10 but yeah, it's hard to tell from those tiny pictures.

PS- Bear in mind that Reynolds labels are sometimes MIA . If it has alloy rims, decent paint and a Brooks it can't be a bad deal at that price. |
Not a PX10 but as previously mentioned probably a PA10. Price isn't out of line IF it checks out OK and is close to 'ready to ride' condition.
|
So i assume this isnt a good enough deal to be worth trying to flip then yes?

OK thats what I was thinking

Looks like a PA-10. It's probably Peugeot Allege tubing...same as the UO-8. Might be slightly thinner wall tubing though. I picked-up a PA-10 about a year ago and like it. Basically an upgraded UO-8 with different lugs, cranks, derailleurs, wheels etc.
|
It could also be a PR10 which is very similar to the PA10 cosmetically. The PR10 is one step down from the PX10 and a very good bike. You can compare here. http://www.peugeotshow.com/

By the decals it looks to be 70-74 and I'd say a UO8.
|
clotterd cranks, so i would not bother with it. The problem with peugeots is that they all look the same, if this had stronglight 49d's i would say it was worth picking up.
