Info on Kuwawhara Sage, please!

I just bought this bike as my winter commuter, butI can't find too much info on the Sage model - does anyone know? I just picked up this one last night and it rides really well, has forged dropouts, and looks to me to be latee 80s with the Cycloid crank - more details anyone?

I'm not totally familiar with the Kuwahara brand, but Sixty Fiver has two Kuwahara MTB/26"-ers that he uses for winter duty way up in Canuckistan (eh?). He should probably be able to give you some helpful info.

SunTour XCD-4050 was produced only in 1988 and was intended for mid-range models. Kuwahara typically stamps an open format serial number on the seat tube, in the vicinity of the derailleur clamp, however this one dates from after the Yen revaluation, so it may be a contracted, Taiwanese built frame. The serial number should provide insight into its lineage and the actual year.
