Hi- I'm hoping someone can help me ID this Bianchi that has recently been offered to me...I don't know all that much much about it except it has what appears to be a Campy "Victory/Triomphe" gruppo. It's in pretty nice shape but needs some work to be ridable again (tires/cables/etc.) Any info (or opinions) offered would be greatly appreciated...I'm more versed in Raleigh and Schwinn than Italian. Does any one have any idea as to the value of this bike? Apologies for the composite photo and lack of equipment detail. I just thought that someone would remember such a "flamboyant" pink machine! Thanks for your help!

I've seen several Bianchi models from the mid-1980s in that colour. I have seen it called both 'pearl rose' and 'electric rose' in catalogues. Given the decal date and components, your frame would seem to tied to a narrow span of 1987-1988. The Bianchi Veloce of a couple years earlier used those components and a Bianchi/Columbus special tubeset, but I don't have any later references for it. For curiosity's sake, could you please post the serial number? Thxs and good luck!

Hi- Thanks for your input...The Frame Serial # is W9(Left Side) 4439 (Crank Side). After looking around the internet, I'm pretty sure now that the Campy Gruppo is "Triomphe". The brake levers are plastic. This frame size is ridable (but a slightly large) for me. I'm wondering if there'a an opinion on a "reasonable" value for this bike. I really appreciate your help, I'm lost in the world of Italian gear.

Thank-you for the serial number info. It would appear that your frame was made in 1989. It's a bit of a suprise to see Triomphe, as I thought it had been discontinued in 1988 and replaced by Athena for 1989.

Regardless, I could find no 1989 bicycles equipped with Triomphe. However, I found a handful of comparable Triomphe equipped bicycles for 1987-1988, by Italian firms such as Bottechia and Fiorelli. These bicycles had list prices of $700.00 - $750.00 US. Victory equipped bicycles were around $900.00 - $1000.00 US. I would expect the Bianchi to have been comparbly priced. The current value depends on the condition (both cosmetic and mechanical) and the market demand. Bianchi is a well recognized brand, as is Camapgnolo, however, Triomphe was not a popular group. Still I would expect the bicycle to hold it's value better than a Shimano 600 equipped bicycle of the era, which were comparably priced. I'd suggest tracking some comparable bicycles on Ebay to get an idea of the marketplace value. You may not find a Triomphe equipped bicycle, but you should be able to find several Shimano 600 equipped bicycles from the late 1980s.

Wow! That's great information!...I couldn't be more grateful. The Campy Triomphe determination was arrived at by the Campagnolo subtleties I discovered when doing my research on the internet. The front derailleur lacks the second pivot pin of the Victory and the brake calipers have a black adjusting o-ring (as opposed to the Victory's grey).
The rear derailleur however, I believe, is Victory because of the alloy cage. The composite (plastic?) brake levers turn out to be Modolo. The Campagnolo product line is certainly intriguing, worthy of scholarly dissertation...No wonder I've stuck to the Anglo stuff...Too bad this frame is too big for me, I'll tune it up and have a spin anyway. This one will probably wind-up on eBay for the Bianchi connoiseur. Again, I appreciate all of your help T-Mar!!!

I bought a similar bike, w/triomphe, in celeste, with campy ypsilon wheels and nuovo record cranks on ebay for $ 250 USD. I thought it was a good deal as I like the bike a lot.
