Roll Up Roll Up - Group Buy!
|
Looks like KAS's garage. :)
|
Wowie. Moment of silence for the fellow collector who lived a full life...
(They all look to be about the same size.) |
Head count of all the regular posters please! That's near my grand parents place... If I had the €40.000 I'd be all over it.
|
I'm in for $50, is that good?
|
I'm still breathing - but just barely after seeing that barn-find :)
"Wowie" is right on the money! DD |
insane
|
you don't see many pre 80s de rosas on the market anymore

Dibs on the Spanish-Blue early 70's De Rosa. Even my size. |
9 more days, Cmon Lottery!
|
Amazing...is there a list of everything there?
|
Dibs on the Beetle and 2CV!
P.S. Those bikes appear to be my size, too... |
hmmm i don't think i can come up with 40000 pounds, does anyone wanna go half's with me? Drillium dude? :)
|
^ I only want one bike out of all that - and it isn't one of the Colnagos :)
Speaking of, did anyone notice the Colnago Nuovo Mexico with Campy 50th Anniversary? DD |
They're too small for me, but put me in for three or four groups with wheelsets please. I didn't have a lot of Italian stuff, but at full bore my garage was pretty similar. If I had that much space, who knows how scary i could have gotten.,,,,BD
|
How many bikes do we think? What do you think market value would be if sold individually? If parted out?

I'd need an exact list of what's there, with multiple photos of each bike before shelling out money like that. That's a lot of money not to know exactly what you're getting, and you have to figure that if you're buying in this kind of bulk, you'd expect to pay under (well under) the value of the bikes individually.
I think we're looking at around 50 bikes...meaning at 40,000 euros, or $53,000 USD, he's asking around a grand per bike. In this kind of bulk, with the storage and shipping requirements, I think you'd have to double your money to really make it worthwhile...meaning for this to work, you'd have to be able to determine that the bikes are worth an AVERAGE of 2 grand each. That seems like a stretch to me. |
I'm willing to sell a kidney. Anyone know what they're going for nowadays? It'll last for a long time since it's been pickled in Russian vodka.
|
wow that De Rosa has some funny handlebars.
|
For me the biggest problem is logistics. I would also like a better pictorial list, that DeRosa is to many here a known qty. The question is what other treasures just were too shy to photograph? This collection is interesting otherwise as the size range is all over the place. This was a collection, not a set of bikes for one individual to own and ride.
The advantage and or disadvantage of my humble set is that all are set up for me, less the few for the spouse. |

It's only $53,373, an average of $762 per bike. Add in the wheels and other stuff actually not a bad deal.
Better figure $10,000 to ship though...container? |

Better figure $10,000 to ship though...container? Keep in mind you'd also have to sell them slowly so as not to shock the market, not to mention how time consuming it would be to pack this many bikes at once. You're going to be sitting on a LOT of bikes for a bit, and that likely means storage facility, which costs more money. I don't know how many there are...but you'd need a LARGE spread to make this worthwhile. |
