Name that frame. Track frame ID.

Okay. I need your help.

I have a track frame and I would like to identify it.

Previous seller had very little information in regards to who built it.

Key Features.

Any information would be helpful. The lugs seem to be pretty common. I think the tubing may be tange, as Tange made Champion bottom brackets I think..

I will email the guy I bought it of and see if he remembers anything.

The frame looks like custom made to me.

My second guess... Gazelle champion but a couple of thing don't match like the shimano drop outs.

    Keirin frame, maybe?

Hasn't there been a few other track bikes pop up recently with Champion on the BB shell? That's not a Tange BB shell btw.

    Robofunc 11-30-11 09:18 AM

    Wait, someone spray-painted it?

    David Newton 11-30-11 09:21 AM

What was it blasted with, granite sand?

    ericbaker 11-30-11 09:28 AM

I dont recall the lugwork but i recently saw a Sekine Track frame with shimano drops. I'd agree JohnD and put my money on Japanese.

wouldn't Japanese have a Jis sized crownrace?

and no it wasn't blasted, it was stripped with paint stripper. My guess is it has had a bad sandblast in the past.

not always, Japanese HS like Tange were sold with both JIS and ISO crown races. Is this frame from (or still in) Australia? If so I'd say it might be made in Oz, which might explain the odd mix of frame components from Spain (probably by way of UK), Japan, and god-only-knows. The "Champion" BB shell could be sand-cast as well as roughly sand-blasted.
