Cannondale Bags--- Let's See Them!
 

Just got real lucky and picked up a Cannondale bar bag to match my rear bag:D It's the deluxe model with a ton of pockets and plenty of storage room. I really like these bags and wish they still made them. So show off your C'dale bags......

I saw a woman with two rear C-dale panniers like this today. I was jealous -- I'd like some for my Trek 620. I have a small handlebar bag that I'll take a pic of tonight.

Capecodder found this yellow one and passed it along to me for a great price. I have since acquired the matching saddle bag. No picture yet.

I have two Cannondale Bags. The handlebar bag can be seen on the Miyata 700 GT. The Rack Bag can be Seen on the Trek 600. The Bridgestone T-700 is without. :(

My '78 Fuji S10-S with it's 1981 Cannondale "Trestle" (BO37) handlebar pack and it's matching Cannondale Tire Sock (B026). I've got complete sets, handlebar bags, panniers and tire socks in red, grey and blue.

I have several of the more modern Cannondale handlebar bags that use a quick release holder. I also have it in red with match red panniers for the tour I dream about doing on my '88 ST400.

Here's an old picture of a bike I no longer own, but I have two rear panniers. I really like the frame construction and pockets, but age and weather is starting to make the fabric fragile to abrasions.

I managed to find a set of 1985 Cannondale Overlands panniers- and a month or so later a matching handlebar bag. The handlebar bag didn't have the vinyl map case- but Scottryder graciously sent me one. Thank you Scott!

I could only find a picture with my Trestle and trunk bag on the bike but I have the front and rear panniers that like Rocket-Sauce's are Nashbar versions. I remember lusting after a full set after seeing a Bicycle magazine ad with the full silver set titled "Hi Ho Silver". If anyone has that pic from an old magazine please post it. I also have a black tire sock and another Trestle in black.

I'll try to take and post a pic of how I modified my Trestle and use it with a Topeak QR handle bar bag mount. I got the bag piece of the system from Topeak and added an aluminum stiffener under the foam one in the bag and pop riveted the mount to it. Works great. I got tired of wrestling with the bag to get it off of the OEM metal hanger and the hanger also tends to mar the bars and stem after the plastic coating wears off.

Does anyone have a set of the original Cannondale bags? Red ripstock, they were barrel shaped and each one had a rectangular sheet of thin foamcore to give it it's shape. No extra pockets or anything, just one container. The rear's fit on a Plestcher rack in the usual manner (two upper hooks and a bungeed third lower), and the handlebar bar used a length of webbing that wrapped around the brake levers. I had a set of them on my Voyageur back in '73, haven't seen any since. Still have the matching backpack, as its what I used to carry my gear while cross-country skiing.

Rocket-Sauce, I'm currently running a set of the rears like you've got on that '91 picture, only in gray instead of blue. Absolutely love them.

Pastorbobnlnh, I've also got one of the yellow ones in use just about every Sunday on our group rides.

Currently working on making my own handlebar bag (much larger) to fit on the y-shaped handlebar levers.

I have two of the ones which go on the handlebars, one blue and the other yellow. For the most part the attaching straps are shot and they are not in the best of condition (yellow is better). I've not seen the rear. Is it sort of like a trunk bag?

I used to have the red bar bag. I loaned it to a friend's son and I haven't seen it since 1978. I'm beginning to think I'm not going to get it back. The material is called ripstop, by the way.

Visualize a larger size handlebar bag, made to mount in a pair on a Plestcher (sp?) rear rack. Two hooks at the top to hang on the rack, a third hook on a bungee cord-ish setup to clip down by the axle. Otherwise they're identical: A big roll with no extra pockets using a sheet of thin foam core-ish material to give the bag shape. They were a big deal when they came out in the early 70's. First, nobody had heard of Cannondale before then. Second, it was the first alternative to the classic TA style touring bags. Third, they cost half as much (rough guess) as the TA's. Suddenly bicycle touring became affordable.
