Shoot me

I just missed getting my husband the best Christmas present. An Eisentraut frame. It was the right size- 56cm- that NEVER happens. I could cry. No! I don't want to talk about it! Leave me alone!!!

Don't be sad; never say never. It might take a few years, but in the Information Age eventually we all get our heart's deepest desire.
Just this week, I met a new friend in here with a beautiful Look Hinault Equippe in my size. About 3 or 4 years ago, I lost an Ebay auction (at the last moment for only $2.15) for that same frame in my size, and I've rued every day since. Might not happen for you this Xmas, but it will happen. My faith in that is as unshakable as my faith in Calculus.

It was "only" a Limited. Be patient, and you will find a nicer one!

I hope you were not bidding against each other on ebay

A little side story on that Look. I picked it up a few years ago off Craigs List in Charlotte (160 miles one way from where I live, I am kind of crazy on driving distances when it comes to picking up a bike). Miamijim had posted it on the deals on C/L and ebay message (which I rarely look at). The seller already had a buyer in NYC that wanted him to just send the fork!! So he decided to sell to me instead, to keep the frameset together. Since I ride a 56, no way this frameset was going to fit me. A couple of years later, Jan dropped me a PM and I ended up sending it to him in Utah.

The Look frameset also came with a rear Mavic Cosmic Elite rear wheel, which ended up with Robbie Tunes.

Wow that looks like it was hermetically sealed in 1986!

Thanks for the history! :) Got any pictures of when she was yours?
Some other dude's (or dudes') name tattooed on a girl's neck is usually a pretty major turn-off, but I'm powerful-glad to know you saved her from being deforked!
Now that I think about it, it's less of a turn-off if the tattooed name is Bernard Hinault.

I once drove to Greeley, CO from where I live now in Carlsbad, CA for a motorcycle in the dead of winter. And when I came back I was sad to see my wife's cat had apparently escaped. This made FOUR cats to get out, and the previous 3 had all been eaten by the coyotes in the canyon behind my house. Then I noticed that my ex-wife's clothes were gone too... I confess my kneejerk reaction before the grief hit was relief that at least another cat hadn't been eaten. Tragedy + Time = Comedy.
I'll be road-tripping to Utah to pick it up when the roads clear, and with my luck, this frame will have plenty more ironic & hilarious stories to report soon.

i had the same thing happen to the front tire of my honda st1300. except it was a sheetrock screw and because of the shallow angle, didn't cause a flat. i just stopped when i heard it rhythmically hitting the pavement, got out my screwdriver, unscrewed it and went on my merry way. sometimes the s*** misses the fan..

I wish my wife knew what an Eisentraut was.

Hey, that's big love in many cultures.
