Modolo QT-EXE
Don't know if this is the right place for this, but thought I would give it a shot.
Modolo QT-EXE brake levers. http://velobase.com/CompImages/Brake...88E3E08E6.jpeg http://velobase.com/ViewComponent.as...2-d256697ef03a Has anybody used them? Anybody have any opinion on them? Any bad stories? I have a Bianchi I am currently building up with campy dt shifters and need some levers(brakes too, but thats a different story) I thought these looked cool and I've seen a few on ebay for a reasonable(to me) price. That brings up two more questions, would 1994 be classic/vintage enough to be discussed here? And whats the consensus on build threads in this neck of the woods(BF in general, not just C/V) |
Though I like the appearance of Modolo brakes, I have never been impressed with the function. But that is just me.
And build threads seem to be gaining in popularity. Got a whole website devoted to just that. |
Darn, that's what I was afraid of. They look cool, but they look like theu might also feel cheap and plasticy.
|
Give 'em a shot, you can always take them off if you don't like them.
I have a set of Speedy's with replacement pads on one of my bikes, they work as well as anything else I've tried. |
I always thought Modolo brakes and levers were the best looking and performance is adequate. Give them a shot, if you don't like them you can always resell them.
|
I doubt I'd be able resell them locally, but I guess I could always throw them up on ebay. I think I will give them a shot.
|
They are cool, in appearance, shape, color. But i don't have anything Italian!!! :(
|
You can always put them up in the forsale thread here or in your sig. I'm sure one of the guys/gals here will buy them....maybe even myself. ;)
Modolo conventional brake levers were considered to be the best finished and anatomic in their day. The hand-fitted hoods especially. The Kronos aero levers were 'plastic'. They didn't function very well. These look more towards function than fashion. They may work just as well as most aero levers. It's just the shelf-life of the delrin plastic. Will it snap unexpectedly one day? Maybe. If they're NOS stored all these decades in a box wrapped from UV and ozone, I'd deem them safe enough to use. As Randyjawa pointed out, Modolo made a lot of pretty product, unfortunately their engineering was lacking...Kronos line of plastic parts that eventually snapped, their unique stem line that unexpectedly sheared off and causing a horrific accident, thus forcing a recall. Some of their bars also cracked due to being too thin. But style-wise, they were on top of the game. |
Yeah, the ones I've seen have all been NOS. I think I'll do it, as for my other question, does a '94 bianchi fit in C/V?
|
Drag that 94' Bianchi on here now, where are you going to put it that some one will care. We care...about pictures.
|
New thread or in this one?
