As the title states...I have been hitting all of the "old" shops in the area with no luck, and have not been willing to bid high on eBay...Black, or gum will both work.

Cheers,
Chris

Dia Compe/Cane Creek, Loose Screws: https://www.loosescrews.com/index.cgi...id=32938533038
Items #4 or 5 should do the trick.

Thanks for the response! Any thoughts on the fit of the Dia Compe hoods?

Cheers,
Chris

Chris ebay seller Mike Fraysse had a boatload of genuine NOS period correct Shimano hoods that fit most of the early 600 and DA series levers. Don't know if he's still got stock, but they were a regular feature for a couple of years at $29.99 a shot.

I have had this issue recently also and have found that nothing seems to fit the 600 levers quit right. Trimmed and taped Diacompe 500 hoods seem to come the closest. I hate this because they are some of my favorites of the vintage semi vintage levers. If anything I have found taping the levers with Golf club tape works pretty good.

The Cane Creek branded hoods are a poor choice. The Dia Compe 204 hoods are a much better fit.

I've also used the "generic" hoods sold by Loose Screws on 6207s and they fit pretty well.

I've used the Cane Creeks myself. They cost me $8 for the pair. I had to do a little trimming, and there is a little play between them and the levers. A little cloth tape around the levers seemed to improve the "fit". Look pretty decent to me.

Thanks again for the info! I am in the process of rebuilding a Trek 520 I've been sitting on for a long while, and I'd like to use the original levers (even though aero levers would probably perform better).

Cheers,
Chris
