Help ID'ing Brakes

Any idea what brakes are on this bike and the vintage? I checked Velobase to no avail.

Many thanks,

GG

Drilled Mafac?

Mafac brakes with a "booster arm". They are thought to stiffen up the brake caliper and improve their performance.

Looks like a MAFAC with a stiffening bridge. I've not seen that before.

+1, the brake booster prevented the pivot studs from splaying outward in reaction to the pad pressing against the rim. This increased the mechanical efficency of the brake slightly. This feature was popular on Roller-Cam and U-Brake equipped ATBs in the very late 1980s.

Plenty of brake boosters on cantis back in the day also.

True, but they weren't nearly as effective on cantilevers.

Those pads look like s Shelby Cobra valve cover gasket I need four of those...

I have a set of those bridges but have ridden on those brakes in quite some time. I recall not noticing much difference in braking feel.

Someone on the CR list did some repros of those boosters a couple years ago, including copying the original packaging. I bought a couple pair because I'm a sucker for goofy accessories...
