The hubs and pedals really had an almost identical design (except of the logos of course) whereas the (early) GPM crank sets just had a similar style as Campagnolo.
The dimensions and the square taper inserts as well as the corresponding bottom brackets were different, too.
Also GPM came up with a fully aerodynamic crank design before campagnolo even offered half non fluted cranks.

There's a guy in Chicago that likes to put together all-Italian bikes with no Campy components.
His stuff is great.
Reviving this thread since I have been mostly a Campy guy, a few dura-ace bikes, and I have a recent build that is more of a tribute to diff nice Italian parts. Could not pass up this find of a NOS Gipiemme Sprint Seatpost!! 27mm, 200mm at less than 1/2 of most of the Campy posts same era. Looks beautiful, will see if there is any diff with install and use ...

Looks like top quality Italian to me

Gipiemme Crono Sprint crank and front derailleur. This Moser is Falck chrome-moly, not Columbus, so I went with mostly Gipiemme and Miche, instead of Campy. The Crono Sprint (and Gipiemme Sprint pedals) components on this bike are perfectly good and fine, but I do not consider them to have the finish of Campy. Pretty close, though.

Thanks. The bike rides really nice. Yes, the seatpost is Gipiemme! Also, my shifters are Simplex SJ 6311, which were sometimes branded as Gipiemme.

Same here. The races and cones are polished just as nicely as Campagnolo, as well.

Same quality bearings as well ?
Did Gipiemme also make a large wide flange version ?

Gipiemme coke spoon retrofrictions (870BC) are pretty nice, as are the 600CA and 600AA seatposts.
