Anyone know of a good source for pics of team cars from the 60's through the 80's??

I'm somewhat tempted to put my Volvo 245 into team colors if I run across an attractive and appropriate prototype.

I knew a bike racer back in the 70's that drove a Peugeot 504 with a rack on top. It was pretty cool. Wasnt in team colors or anything. But he bought it because the 504 was a popular following car back in the day. Google various cycling teams. Volvo sponsered a team.

Maybe trade in your 245 for a team bus!

I have seen pics of the Molteni 244! They did a superb job.

There is a glimpse of a Volvo wagon with a rack in "a Sunday in hell" but not enough to gather any details.

^^^ That's exactly what they were. Cycle racing wasn't that popular in GB then, and the teams couldn't be very picky.

This Peugeot DB4 Ambulance could be modified nicely to make a current CV team vehicle

but I do have the double page add from Campi when they introduced Chorus, but also I never scanned it. they had a huge blue Chevy Caprice wagon wagon here in the states. complete with those fabulous 'Race Ready" bike holders hanging over the sides.

then there is always the BianchiGirll Riding Club vehicle

^Is that a CitroŽn? Cool.

On the Turbobricks forum, there are occasional posts of original team cars and replicas. Post a picture of your 245.

Love that French panache...but here's another year (1970) and a different English Ford team car for Holdsworth/Campagnolo (maybe a Consul Corsair)... a year when they had no siamese twins on the squad

Rats Unworthy1, You beat me to it!
Somewhere I've got the original postcard of that. We were given time off school to stand at the gates and watch the Milk Race go by - awesome! The car was a Ford Corsair (Ford England) running on a V4 Pinto engine and the car stopped and the mechanics etc. got out and handed the postcards to us school kids. It's possible that Forum Member Joe Hagan was one of the mechanics!

Couldnt find a picture but the Campy van with its bubble top was a staple at all the big race events in the 70's.

Nice, I met him at a Tour du Pont stop in Wytheville very briefly. Got a signature; as a young kid, I thought it was awesome.

We had those mounted on a Suburban at some point. I don't know if any pictures still exist or not...

The Campy van picture was taken in 1974 in front of the bike shop that I worked at in Miami. Bill Woodal was the head mechanic at Dade Cycle in Coconut Grove and was a close freind of the guy that owned Perigee Bike shop. Chris Charmichael was also a mechanic at Dade Cycle at that time when he was about 14 years old.

A couple borrowed from the interweb. Not really good shots of the cars, but I thought the photos were cool enough to post anyway.
