Who makes a C&V style 26.8mm seatpost?

What contemporary companies make an inexpensive (<$50) 26.8 seatpost that would look good on a C&V bike?

Ideally, I'd like to get an aero-style seatpost, however, the campy and dura-ace ones I've seen on ebay are far to expensive for me to justify. Any other aero-style copies (soma, and an ebay cheapie) only come in 27.2.

I'm open to any suggestions for seatposts. FYI, this will be for a Team-Miyata frame that's been powder coated fire-engine red and will be built up with brifters. Here is an attached low-res photo from the seller to give you an idea.

The original would've come with a fluted Dura-ace EX, although I'm not necessarily set on being being period correct.

How about a SR Sakae 26.8 seatpost, like this one:

They come up for sale periodically on ebay and are reasonably priced.

i second an sr laprade seatpost, but not with that awful, antiquated clamp as shown above. there are plenty of one-bolt designs out there for cheap.

i always paint the flutes of mine with black enamel.

I 2d Kalloy seatposts; they look good on vintage bikes and come in sizes. Also you can find a thompson elite in 26.8; that's a pretty sweet seatpost but not cheap.

Origin8 has a nice one, two bolt design similar to Thomson but obviously heavier. It's 400mm but nothing that can't be cut down to 250mm or so.

I like this Kalloy one for a more accurate retro look. It's actually a casting pressed into aluminum tubing. They make them in different lengths up to 400 mm so you could use one on a marginally short frame for you.

+1 on those SR Laprades, or the nearly identical Sakae post. Good enough for Centurion's Semi Pro and Pro Tour. The only drawback? They're short. They're designed for the frame fit that is up close and personal. Gipiemme also made one very similar.

If it's length you need, and the C&V style, the Sunlite above is right there.

Nice. Didn't know they made this one. Looks like I'll have a spare Kalloy now.

Pays to read around in here.

I would propbable look for a nice used SR Laprade since this is likely what would have been on the bike originally. Yet the Sunlite/kalin replica post is a great choice exspecially if your looking for something with a little more length. I have used them on a couple of builds and they are fairly nice close to an exact copy of the SR.

Be a little careful if you are heavy. The serrated washer under the bolt does not have big holding power. If your seat is pushed back and you are heavy it will nose-up on you. I also have a Sunlite, which is heavier but stays put. It also is less adjustable.

Well I ordered that but it doesn't have any flutes as pictured. And the lathe machining marks are a little more prominent than on the Kalloy SP-267 UNO.

But etherhuffer doesn't like the clamp on the other Kalloy model so if that doesn't work for me I've now got a spare.

I'm getting a lot of spares lately, lol.

What the? I would be a bit disappointed. Good to know, thanks for the review.

Well really nice flutes and detail are nice but not worth paying an extra $30-40 or so bucks for. You will never notice the difference when riding the bike and barely notice when looking at it ounce the post is on the bike with the seat. I would much rather spend the money on a nicer seat when it comes to a seating saddle setup. I have also had this issue off parts not quite matching describtion or pic when ordering Sunlite stuff online at good prices.

Not my preference for a clamp but they serve purpose in a different way. Right now I'm on the hunt for one in a 26.6 diam. plus long as possible. For our tandem, I want to replace the SR Laprade - fluted with one like above. That clamp allows one to offset the saddle forward and gives more riders a fitment without changing a stem. If you use the typical offset and rotate the post 180 in the seat tube, you can't get a proper saddle tilt. I also need to rig the stoker stem and bar onto it.

The Sunlite post might not have the flutes as pictured in their ad but it is noticeably lighter than the Kalloy SP-267 UNO.
