The folks at bbcbikes just floor me with their prices. <sigh> Nice bike if you want to pay his $25k, though it seems to me someone could buy a new Santana titanium for considerably less that what this guy is asking for his used bicycle.

SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY.

Anyone sending questions not related directly to the purchasing of the bike
(or specifics of the bike with intent to purchase) will be permanently blocked from future purchases.
Kinda begs for some non serious inquiries, wouldn't you say?

Blocked from future purchases....the horror.........the horror.

bbcbikes has to be funded by:

1. Someone who inherited a significant amount of money without having ever worked (a working person would have a better sense of value).

2. An egotist who gains some sort of sick thrill showing others what he/she has collected while throwing outrageous prices it in our faces as if they are for sale.

3. An enemy of the biking world, C&V, modern, bike boom collector, rat rodder, etc.

4. All of the above.

Well - it's REALLY cool (and it has more titanium than a Blackbird or Russkie submarine hull), but I think mine actually has more character

I have Nikkorod's frame...we're having a little party next weekend, you're both welcome to stop by.

^ Absolutely more character and more history!

BTW, the really ironic thing is "bbc" stands for "Budget Bicycle Center."

On the plus side, the titanium triplet would be far easier to get in and out of the house!

To state it as being ironic is an understatement given the exorbitant prices. They need to add an extra "b" and start referring to it as the "blown budget bicycle center" atmo.

bbc has some very nice bikes, but their prices are all very high. Like high enough that I just about spit out my coffee at some of them. And they all seem to be BIN with no OBO option.

The autographed Livestrong Treks might hit $12K at a big charity auction with a few wealthy bidders driving the price up.

Love the POS Huffy they are trying to sell for $1500.

For $1,500 it had better be a Huffy built by Serotta.

I don't know...that's a lot of titanium and it's a bike that's going to sit around for a LONG time. It would have a VERY limited market. It seems pretty crazy (especially with Ultegra?!?), but it would have to sell for a large chunk to be worth making.

I know the retail price of my triplet was higher than Paramounts and the like in 1949.

I know a guy with a ti triple, and while it was expensive, not THAT expensive.

Before I would even talk to this seller of interesting stance, I would investigate how much a new, custom rig would run. And it would have dual front disc brakes and a rear disc too.

Someone contact Lynskey or Serotta or Seven or Moots or Indy Fab or Firefly etc and get a quote for a triple frameset! I am betting it won't be anywhere near $25K (or $38!!!).

I just ran completed auctions on this seller's bikes/frames and they have only one successful sale ($150 for a frame) in two weeks. Guess they ain't doing consignment anyway.

I like the idea about founding out how much a ti triple would cost, but I don't want to bug those folks out of curiosity either. $38,000 definitely seems high...I'm just wondering how much too high.

The seller has just received an inqury:

Seeing that this is an inquiry that's probably not "serious" under your draconian categorization, I may be eternally mortified if I am to have the privilege of removal from your list of eligible buyers.

Nevertheless, it so happens that a peasant such as I am in the process of developing a Litespeed registry and serial number chart for collectors, and wished to ask if you might be able to share the serial number (kept private; it'll be only used to compile a database of sequential serials from which the chart will be based) and a copy of the main picture (with credit).

However, I take it from the strict disciplinarian language that this will be impossible. I take it that I will not be subjected to cruel and inhuman punishment for my unspeakable request.

In the seller's defense, their reply is most diplomatic and reasonable:

Hi - the bike is on display at our sister store, Machinery Row Bicycles. We don't have the serial number here at this location, nor any picture better than this one.
Give em a call or send an email to them.

btw - we only send those asking questions about the rather stiff price to the dungeon. It was getting a bit silly answering 5 questions a day about the price.

cheers

bbcbikes

Maybe it's a sound business decision to ask for insane prices. He may not need to make many sales for the scheme to be worthwhile for him. Imagine if he does get the $25,000 for the triple. That would more than make up for the rest of the crap if none of it sells.
