Options for 26.4 quill seatpost on older peugeot
Recently picked up an older peugeot but the seatpost is missing the hardware. Does anyone have ideas for hardware or know where to get a complete replacement? Thanks

Other than the quill type Atax posts that some mid 80's Peugeots came with which are getting harder and harder to find and costing more and more every year, there's not much out there. I've seen Campagnolo ones, but I believe they could have been custom made. Vitus/Rubis sold their version back in the mid 80's, but they are even harder to find out there and I think were mostly the 25 and 23mm sizes to match up with Vitus bikes.
Lots of threads out there about how you can make your own quill seatpost though, do a search on the site if you are up to making one yourself from a conventional seatpost.
...Hey!, you have a French bike afterall!....

Can you show a pic of what you have on hand to work with? I had to convert a standard post to quill type and it's not a big deal.

Based upon the responses and what I've seen looking around on the net I think I should focus on locating hardware to attach the saddle instead of getting a new seat post. I mainly was looking for a replacement because mine is pretty beat but I can't be picky when they are this difficult to find. Any thoughts on compatible hardware?
*Thanks for the responses btw

IIRC, that Atax quill style seatpost had special pieces made of Delrin (plastic) that combined with the metal parts of the clamp that I doubt you'll find anywhere these days. The original plastic part on your seatpost must have cracked apart/desintegrated from age as many of them did, that's why it and the other top clamp parts are gone from it.
Your only chnace to get your saddle back on the bike is to find another one to replace it or get parts from or make yourself a new one from a conventional seatpost which will most likely last longer than the original Atax because they will not have platic in them.
