Silca Impero pump question

How do you measure this pumps? Ordered a 56 cm for my 56 cm bike and it is too long:(
Do I use the bottom inside dimension? Help!

it's the gap in the frame occupied by the pump. outer tube wall - to - outer tube wall, either along seat tube or top tube
