Cliff Shrubb??
I have a Shrubb bike frame which built into a really sweet ride.
From the limited info that I can find on him I know that:
1. He is dead
2. He had made frames since the 1950's
3. He used 953 and Ishiwata?? steel
4. He made race, tandem, and track/pursuit bikes
5. My frame appears to be oddly made. That is the top tube and seat tube appear to be one piece which is brazed onto the headtube, which is brazed to the DT. The ST and DT are brazed to a Cinelli BB with brazed chain stays. The upper triangle also appears to be one piece with the TT. The rear wheel has about 1/16" clearance between the tire and the clamp for the front D.
If anyone has info other than:
https://www.classiclightweights.co.uk...-builders.html
https://www.sgcyclery.com/CLIFF%20SHRUBB.htm
I would appreciate it. I will try to get photos up tonight.

Cliff Shrubb supposedly also built bikes for Geoffrey Butler. My Geoffrey Butler road bike from 1968 was supposedly built by Mr. Shrubb.

I know that he made bikes for Mr. Butler and then he struck out on his own making custom frames. From what I have been able to gather he also made custom frames while he was working with Mr. Butler.
I wish there was more information out there, but alas, it seems that Mr. Shrubb left very little behind.
What steel is yours made from? I think this one is Columbus.

There are two Butlers. There is the well known Claud Butler, and the lesser known Geoffrey Butlers. They were/are both bike shops, both Butlers are related, but that is about it. Schrubb started with the Clauds, but later (mid 60's to the early 70's) built a number of frames as the house brand for Geoffrey. I too, have one of those from the late 1960's. All of the ones I have seen are built from Reynolds 531.

I was told by a guy that did some research on him that if the seat tube was a 27.2, which it is, then it is 531. I do not have a decal on there to prove it though. I know that also used Ishiwata and Columbus. I am not sure about Tange.
It honestly does not matter in the grand scheme of things I just want to know.

Yours has a different lug set than mine as is the top tube. I have Cinelli lugs with a gold under paint. I was told the painting was done by David Crowe of Colour-Tech Resprays UK (01322 555549).
My seat tube collar is integrated with the seat stays and I have internal cable routing.

Mine is all original. I was told that the fastback seat stays, integrated into the top lug, was a Cliff Shrubb feature. But all of this is based on very little info. I have no real proof that my Geoffrey Butler was built by Cliff Shrubb. Just hearsay really.

Here are the pics.
She was used and abused by the previous owner. The previous owner actually put a rack on her and scuffed the paint all to heck and back. You can still see the gold under paint on the top lug.
I have Cinelli stamped on the BB and one of the framebuilders websites has Cinelli lugs that resemble the top lug.
