Peugeot Centennial Edition (PH12) Restoration: 95% done...

Over the last 6 months, I've been working, on and off, to help restore my buddy's '82 Peugeot Centennial Edition (PH12) back to stock/period appropriate.

I finally got to the point where the last element of detail remained so I thought I'd snap some shots and get it back to him to make some much needed room in the garage.

The last detail is the silver Ambrosio bike ribbon which has proved to be an area of controversy.

My buddy wanted to keep the bike as stock as possible so there was little replacement I did, mainly rebuilding and cleaning. The frame had multiple areas of surface rust but it was gently removed then a very small amount of light clear coat was brushed over the bare metal spots to hinder any more oxidation.

The CLB brakes were an oddity in their construction and I had quite a bit of issues with them. However, once they came back together, they grab and hold very nicely.

I want to also sincerely thank Chombi for being so generous in providing me with the gorgeous CLB hoods that proved to be as rare as hen's teeth to find. Thank you, Chombi!

Once I get the bar tape on, I'll get a shot of the bike in its entirety.

Thanks everyone who helped provide products and information on this one. This is why the C&V crew stays the tight knit community we are!

Fantastic build/resto!
Keep the pics of the Centennial bike coming. We're eager to see the final product soon!
BTW, eBay had an aero bottle that went with that cage for sale just a couple of weeks ago. Used, but maybe good enough just for display purposes. It looked to be in OK condition, otherwise. Not sure if it sold, but it might pop up again if it didn't sell. Look under Peugeot / Sporting goods.

Thanks for the words, Chombi! Also, thanks for the aero info. I would like to see that paired up with this bike since it's so bone stock!

Very nice bike! The chrome fork looks great!

I actually owned two of this past year. I recently sold one. The other one I'm keeping for the time being. Although I changed out the handlebars, brake levers, and stem (Alan stem bolt stripped out), I still have them. Eventually I will return them, but I'm pleased with it for the time being. (I also have the original pedals but I don't ride with them.)

Here it is before I made the changes:

I am a rather new PH12 CE owner. You all have done great justice to the above pictured bikes. I have viewed this thread many times. Very nice work from both thinman, and bikemanbob. Especially love the thin look of the silver bars on #1 , and the white letter tires on #2 . I plan to start posting about my bike life here soon. I have been really busy with aquisition bikes, and getting the fleet rolling right. I recently got the crazy water
bottle. Ha ha! All in!

Hi Luckywrench.

Glad you found the thread so helpful. The full post I created for the PH12 is found here.
Good luck on the development of your stable and please post images when you have your bicycle(s) at a stage where you feel they are worth showing.
