What is a bianchi record 965?

I am interested in this frame as it is small and I have been searching high and low for anything good quality and small. (if I can get it at a good price), but not sure what the number means or where record would be in the 90's hierarchy. I have found many references to rekords with numbers....but makes no sense to me.
I read that cromor is pretty good.
It would so annoy my husband if I also had a purplish bianchi, but one that is better than his...

That is a European market model and is different from what we have here in the states. I think it looks more like a late '80s and very early '90s frame judging by the horizontal dropouts, embossed seatstay caps, semisloping fork crown and the Record 965 decal with the red line running through it. I think the decals on the DT are replacements.

I am unfamiliar with Euro market Bianchis but I believe they use a system where they have several Record models perhaps a Record 955 Record 965 and 975 and they share a frame and just the components make the difference in model.

THis one could have been something like our '88/89/90 Campione de Italia. if the biding does not go too hight $140 or so with shipping might be OK for this.

+1, though I was going to compare it to a US market Bianchi Brava. The headset is Shimano New 105 which, if OEM, would place the frame 1987-1989, inclusive. The Cromor decal would eliminate 1987, leaving 1988 or 1989. Cromor, Gipiemme dropouts and lack of front dreailleur hanger indicate a mid-range model. If the OP does acquires the frame, I may be able to determine the exact year via the serial number.

Thanks, since the bike is in Germany, a European bike would make sense. I am surprised they would have different bikes for the European and American markets.
I so want to rescue it!
