1 trip to the LBS = 3 funky freebies.......(peugeot ID and more)

Stopped by a local shop today and picked through the discard and left behind pile and pulled out a few interesting ones.

First up is this 70s Peugeot, can anybody ID the model? hooked up with a nice light system and Bluemel's fenders, mafac racer brakes with hoods and lever covers, plus its orange... sweet

Next is this really cool, euro cruiser. Tour de Suisse RS500, has some nice pistriping and cool fade paint, awesome chainguard, alloy cranks/hubs/rims, wingnuts, nice lights, rack, seat bag... but the coolest thing about this bike is the gothic "weinmann inoxidable" fenders... or is it the euro liscence plate and sticker...
(plus im a sucker for the World Champion stripes)

This fine little mixte needs an ID, who recognizes the headbadge? Has the euro brake setup w/ barend levers. converted to single front ring, quite light.

And just fro fun too... grabbed this one last second cause i saw the blue ringle hub... unfortunately upon closer inspection at home...
but it still has a set of xtr canti's and beat up xtr cranks, plus the frame is in good shape. What quick release is that?

You have a bike shop that discards whole bikes? Wow. That's insane.

The Pug looks to be a UO-8, early 70s, that someone added fenders and light to. None of it is stock UE-8.

Agreed. Here I was thinking that you had picked up a bottom bracket and maybe some old pedals, and there you are with three whole bikes, including a fairly clean looking Peugeot.

Most of the bikes go to bikes not bombs, earn-a-bike... things like that, but if i time it right, they let me have a look beforehand. This time was a good trip!

That UO8 looks identical to the orange 1975 UO8 (the last new bike I bought).

My lbs used to toss bikes like that and also 80's road bikes all the time and flipping what they threw out funded a couple of my keepers. At some point I think one of the employees figured out old road bikes have some value and started keeping them for himself. Now all they throw out are dept store mountain and kids bikes...

Both the Bluemels and the stainless Weinmann fenders are great finds. The crank on that WV is also very cool. You did well!

!@#$%^&*(@#$%^&*()#$%^&*()#$%^&*()_$%^&* Dude, that is not fair. Great haul! I can't believe somebody at the LBS didn't at least want to sell the Bluemels Featherweights and the chainguard from the Tour de Suisse -- both pretty obvious fetish items. Enjoy!

The GT is a Team RTS ("Rocker-Tuned Suspension") which was a pretty expensive bike in the early days of production full-suspension bikes. Unfortunately, this was a misguided (IMO) design which was made to lock out the rear end when pedaling; so it's only active when coasting. Still has quite a bit of early-90s nostalgia value. I'd part it out. You've got some cult parts; the Rock Ring, and both shocks are worth something assuming they are functional.

What size frame is that mixte? I am halfway looking for one in the 42-43cm range.

Good haul regardless. I get stuff from my LBS for free/low cost but have yet to score anything that nice.

GT Team RTS Bontrager titec bar, GT hubs, Syncros stem and more candystuff and that all for free. You lucky basterd. It needs some tlc and there are some issues like broken flange and there is reason to doubt whether the Judy SL can be resurected, but it is a nice project to get this puppy back on the track.

From the top of my head I think this was a 7500 guilders bike were I live. Of course the suspension system is dated, but that applies to everything suspension from the early 90s. A modern carbon roadbike aficiodano would say the same of my Nuovo Record Gazelle.
