Painted Ti Frame/fork
 

Picked up a nice older Sampson Ti frame and fork. It is custom painted Ti with a guy's name under the clear coat:( So....I'm thinking nude Ti is the way to go. So is this sandblasting? Chemical dip? What about the carbon fork? It is painted too. How does one get rid of the paint in the fork? Thanks in advance....:thumb:

media (bead) blast the ti and lightly sand then paint the fork are my suggestions.

and have both done by pros.

There are several Da Vinci-class bike painters (Joe Bell, CyclArt) in the San Diego area. Ask them.

For the frame, I'd go for a chemical dip. There's little chance that the titanium will be affected. The chemicals might melt the fork, though.

My Sampson Z7 was originally painted, actually powdercoated was how they did them at the time. Aircraft stripper and some brass and plastic brushes and scrapers made quick work of the pc. I followed that with a wetland and scotchbrite "polishing". For the CF fork, LIGHTLY sand/scuff and re-spray to desired color.
