Very nice.

Met a guy on the ride yesterday with a 650b converted Quickbeam.

Said the same thing as you did in this post.

I was a little surprised how easily he kept up with the pace to be honest.

Nice work PCB!

Thanks! I can't generally manage fixed on a really fast ride. If it's geared high enough to not spin out at 23-25mph, it's too tall for me to climb. I'll use a Sturmey-Archer S3X fixed 3spd on club rides sometimes.

Snapped a few pix of my Kelly Knobby-X today. Not quite C&V, not quite modern. Kelly doesn't serial his frames, all I know is it's pre-2005 because of the bent chainstays.

The hits just keep coming. Love this one as well.

How are you liking the Soma tires so far?

This is a little on the mountain bike side of the gravel grinder continuum, but it works great on any terrain. The frame is a bit of a mystery.

I posted my '93 Bridgestone XO-2 earlier in this thread but I have since completely rebuilt it with new wheels (deore hubs, mavic 717 rims, DT spokes), tires, crank (a ritchey "trekking" crank, 44-32-22), and claris brifters and derailleurs (they were a take-off from a BF member's trek cross bike). The bike is currently set up as a 3 x 8. I'd like to pick up a set of the VO hammered alloy fenders for this bike. It's a true all rounder and I ride it a lot in the rain as well.

I love the way that the combination of road bike geometry and plush 26 inch wheels ride on all sorts of road surfaces:

Bridgestone MB6 drop bar conversion. Got tired of trying to ride my road bike on the crappy roads around here. It's a tank; slow on the paved roads but nice on gravel roads

i'm open Sunday mornings. I live in Yardley right up the hill a little from the canal path. Probably the 27th am would work. Maybe something in between us? I'll have to look to see what there is. I haven't been out in a while..

Thanks!

I've been trying the Soma Supple Vitesse in a few sizes, 33/35/38, all EX (thicker tread). They have that nice light/supple ride, do very well on pavement, hardpack trail and light gravel. We don't have much gnarly/heavy gravel around here. No knobs, so they're a little squiggly in mud. To me they feel as nice as, and not much different from, Compass and Grand Bois. Mine run a couple mm narrow, I've only gotten the labeled width on wide 25mm rims.

I have a set of 42mm Supple Vitesse SL (SuperLight) for a Wraith Paycheck I'm waiting on.

I have found the same with the Soma B Lines and the Panaracer Paselas . About 3mm narrower actually. I no longer trust their sizing. It's a pain to explain that I can fit 38's on a bike, but they're actually just 35's. Strange when Pacenti and Compass tires tend to run true - they all come out of the same factory.

Huh. I haven't tried that many different tire brands, but the Paselas seem to be the only ones that are actually the size marked on the side wall. Everything else seems to be 2-3mm narrower than marked.

Thanks for the info.

I have a set of 32 EXs going on my workhorse Alu Cross. In addition I put a set of 32SLs on my McLean.

So far, I am mighty impressed.

Thanks! I picked this frame/fork up off the Riv list in almost new condition, for less than half of what it would have cost new. Custom paint and a custom low trail fork (plus the original). I love shopping on that list!
