Domenics Branded Tommisini?
So I bought this bike on craigslist. I am having a lot of trouble finding any information on it. I was told that it is a Tommisini frame built specifically for a racing team out of Domenic's bike shop down in AZ sometime in the mid to late 80s. From what I have found on the net the frame looks like a Tommisini. However, It doesn't say Tommisini on it anywhere. Also everywhere there would be a "t" on the frame (on the fork crown, top of the seat stays, and where the rear brake bolts up) there is a cursive "d" in its place. Guy I bought it from built it up as a fixed gear but gave me a complete shimano 600 group and claims its the original equipment. It has a Shimano 600 headset and crank installed. Also it has "84" stamped in the bottom bracket but that is. So what the heck is this thing? Is it an ultra rare Italian race bike? Or is it some kinda knock off?

My first question is does the seller have the name correct? is it a Tommisini or a Tomasso? I am not sure what kind of sponsorship or contract building Tommisini had back in the '80s. I know 10 Speed Drive who had Tomasso as a "House Brand" did alot of sponsorship stuff (deep discounts but not alot of freebies) and we got Geurceottis that were actually rebranded Battaglins and Tomassos.
That being said if the bike was built by Tommisini for a bike shop I find it odd the shop had a run of forkcrowns made too, unless the crown can be stamped/engraved in the builders shop
Nice looking bike though
Have you tried contacting the shop? assuming they are still in business

This sounds correct to me. I raced for that team for a (very) short time in the late '80s and seem to remember this. Check with Dominic's.

Domenic's is still in business, but Domenic passed away a few months ago. There are Tomasso (or Tommasini) bikes hanging in the shop so the seller's story is legit. Call the shop, they probably know a little history. Good people.

Thank you for the info. I just emailed Domenics's with an inquiry. This frame also has "Team Strac" stenciled on the back of the drive side seat stay. Being a post racer, does that mean anything to you?
