Replacing middle Biopace chainring with Specialité TA - problems?

I'm about to replace the middle ring of my Biopace crankset with a Specialité TA with the same tooth count (38). Same BCD of course (110).

Has anyone here had a negative experience mixing round chainrings with not-so-round chainrings?

Also, I'm looking at buying it at harriscyclery.net, but if anyone knows of a retailer in Canada that would carry this chainring, that would be great.

Cheers.

I'm curious why you would do this in the first place. You can get BioPace replacement rings fairly easily.

I don't understand why you would do that. What would you possibly gain except for it to be odd looking? Unless, you just don't like the biopace rings, then change them all.

Back in the early years fo Biopace when the rings were very out of round guys would replace replace the outer ring with a round one because they'd bounce to much in the saddle at high cadences. Biopace II rings are more round than the early version and riders didnt bounce as much at high cadences.
