Help me choose =)

Ok... So I have decided to stop buying bikes and build up done if the frames I have with the parts I have... I want to make this Cambio Rino frame into a SS bike... I have two sets of wheels to pick from... Either a black set or a silver set... The solver set are track wheels with a flip flop hub and the black wheels are regular road wheels with a 9-speed cassette that I can swap out for a single gear and spacers...

Here are pics of each below.. What looks better??

Thanks!!

Hmmm... you are onto something here...

Question... the spacing on the frame is a little large ?126mm? and the track wheels are smaller... do I put in axle spacers or just crank down the bolts and let the rear stays swing in??

I gotta say, I love the black hub / black machined-sidewall rim combination on bikes that have un-chromed stays and forks.

I have a fixed wheelset like this for which I've been trying to find the perfect frame for years now. In the meantime I've been running it on my lowly Schwinn Traveler.

That's what I would use, but I really like silver rims.

If your flip-flop hub is 120mm and your frame is space to 126mm, you need to add 3mm of spacers to each side of the axle.

Just regular axle spacers from my LBS?

Thanks!

Sounds like you've pretty much made up your mind, but... picture this... black rims, black seat , black bar tape. Nice ! Just my .02 . BTW sharp bike !

I agree...black wheels pick up the frame accents and give you 2 gearing options.

Pair them with black saddle/tape/cabling.

As Justin said, 3mm axle spacers underneath the locknuts on either side.

Have fun...

Beautiful frame!! i gotta say I liked the first pic best - silver rims with white sidewalls, I liked the way the white in the tires picked up on the decals. The blue tires look cool too, but the first pic would be #1 for me.

Definitely the silver rims. I like the look of the black tires, but the blue are more of a statement. I would say you can't go wrong. Do you have anything else you could use the blue tires on? If not, I'd go with those. You'll always find a place for the black ones.

The axle is probably 10x1, but it could be 3/8" x 26tpi. Unthreaded washers that are just slightly oversized will work for either. It wouldn't hurt to bring the wheel with you.

For the record, I actually like the black/blue as well depending on the bar wrap and saddle. But, I do think the silver/blue looks best.

Thanks!!!

Both wheel sets and tires were just laying around as well as a couple frames... I finally decided to build them into a SS bike (I'm selling my other bianchi SS bike)

I will have to mull this over a bit... I am leaning a bit towards silver wheels and blue tires... But I kinda like the look of the black wheels...

Handle Bar Choice...

Just so you can see the big picture, the handle bar will be made of wood... This may sway your wheel choice...

It is a VERY strong dense wood from mexico called Ziricote... I'm going to have it turned down to 26mm for the Cinelli XA stem I'm using... (it will have carbon interrupter brake levers)

BUT alternatively I could use black ebony wood if you think black would look better....

Note: those aren't stains in the wood... That's just how the grain of the wood looks... Cool eh??
