Using Modern Derailleur With Bolt-On Derailleur Hanger Claw?

How does one adapt an old bike with this sort of bolt-on derailleur hanger claw (below) to use a Campagnolo-type derailleur with a step for the "B" screw?

This may be what you need ( if the link works).

Edit: I'm not sure about Campy, but I am using this with a Shimano 105 derailleur.

This is a Sunrace claw mounted hanger I used on my '73 Super Sport.

Thank you one and all. My searching skills don't seem to be up to arcane little topics like this. $1.99, I can handle that . . .

Hmph. I have encountered the opposite problem. An early 70's Bertin with Campy dropouts. The stop on the dropout is so short that a VGT Luxe doesn't even see it. A Cyclone Mk2 touches it but only with the derailleur body, not the stop screw. I may see how a Campy NR fits but I don't want to use it on that bike.

You can find the correct claw for most Campy RD's online or Ebay it just takes a little looking. I know some of the Suntour claws will work with Campy I just can't remember the the model number it seems there where about a dozen or so models.

I have a similar conundrum. I have a mid-'70s Peugeot mixte that came with the cheap Simplex delrin derailleurs and shifters. I am hoping to keep everything as French as possible and change the derailleurs over to Huret models and am searching Ebay at the moment.

In the meantime, I am awaiting a Suntour V-GT Luxe rear derailleur I just won off Ebay and was figuring I'd put that on for the time being because I want a long cage RD. I'm also looking to put a cotterless "compact" crankset on.

However, I was reading Eugene A. Sloane's "Bicycle Maintenance Manual" (1981) (Great book by the way!), and on page 100 he says,

"If you have a French bicycle you may not be able to use anything but a French derailleur, particularly if the dropout is a Simplex, designed for a Simplex derailleur."

So, do I assume the Peugeot has Simplex dropouts because it came with a Simplex rear derailleur? And I can't use anything but Simplex on it?

Or are there ways to get around it like mentioned above?

And how does one tell a Simplex dropout from any other dropout?

To OP....is your bike a Peugeot by any chance?

#4532, and they came in IIRC three different drop lengths, measured from the axle down to the bolt-hole. The Huret and Suntour branded claws are quite a bit better-made, with decent chrome and a stop that actually works.

So, basically all derailleurs would use a different "claw"?

Would that be based on the specific derailleur, or the dropout, or both?

Took a little grinding to allow clearance for the B screw. Got a shimano 600 on a claw for my son's 20" road bike and it works fine.
