That's a hard question to answer. After switching the Torelli to a 130mm stem, I feel really comfortable on it. With that being said, I need to do the same to the Peloton. Their geometry and stiffness are very similar.

It's been rocking on the shake down rides.. still haven't had time to go for an actual ride but I suspect it will be of a similar quality despite the budget build vs the tricolor buildup I did on the turbo.

Okay I've finally gotten to take it for a few "short" rides (more than to the corner store and back), she's a fun beast but I still can't compare her with my Turbo since the I put it up for the season, but I may bring it down just for a comparison ride.. this may just be remembering wrong, but I'd swear the centurion has a livelier ride quality to it.. then again it may also have to do with how differently fitted they are.

What's the good word folks? Been lurking a while, building up the Schwinn to complete.
To give the back story ...
Several years ago my brother left Charleston and brought two old bikes (Schwinn & Raleigh) with him, which inevitably ended up in the parent's garage in Georgia. After years of watching them sit, I was home for Thanksgiving and decided i would build them up, if only to have something to do. Most of the parts seemed to be there, though the Schwinn was broken down pretty far. While inventorying the parts, it seemed strange to me that someone would have put Dura-Ace on a Schwinn (i.e. someone had to have taken the bike seriously). Started doing some research (the tires and chain were beyond use, the pedal's were OLD spd's, and the only handlebars were 80's era tri/aero bars--the reason my brother wanted the bike--so there was not much else to be done).
Obviously I found this forum, had the whole kit shipped to Brooklyn (against the advice of the LBS my dad used, which obviously won't be used in the future), and began the obligatory eBay & Craigslist search for correct parts.
The original state I found it in had a 6-speed Dura-Ace group (hubs/skewers/crankset-52-42/gearset-13lock-14-15-17-18-21/front-rear derailleurs/index shifters/fluted seat post ) and Royal Dia-Compe 400 brakes.
I ditched the old gel seat for an old Royal Selle (local Craigslist, couldn't find an original black version) and found some old and abused, but exact (eBay provided) Cinelli handlebars. After some fits and (re) starts, eBay also provided some period correct Woho silver metallic tape, and the close to correct Royal Dia-Compe brake levers, but only after first providing an incorrect non-aero pair. eBay also gave up some period correct Suntour Sprint pedals and MKS track baskets.
Amazingly the high end Matrix hard anodized wheels were (and are) still true enough to ride, but can't adjusted enough to last much longer. I have them wrapped with some Vittoria 25's, which is probably 5-6-7mm's greater than anything supposed to be on the bike. Because I have a thing for Paul Smith, I eventually found his collaboration with Kashimax (thanks eBay, and sorry, yes it's a track seat). Because its also my daily rider, I have put some Portland Design Works road fenders on it (designed for 23's, but after some fiddling by my LBS--BicycleRoots--got it work).
I don't have to tell this group how great a ride this thing is, but coming from my '99 Allez (which I love, but t's first gen, aluminum & stiff), it's changed what I thought a high end bike, much less a steel one, could feel like. My references for steel are my Peugeots, and while I knew they were both a different generation and a different class apart, its shocking the difference.

Here's my 1986 modernized Peloton.
-Shimano RS20 Wheelset with 10s peed cassette and Schwalbe Lugano 23c tires.
-Tektro interchangeable model dual pivots fitted with Koolstop pads
-Origin 8 quill adapter, Titec Hellbent Stem (120, 0 degree), and the wonderful but now discontinued IRD Blackbird Comp handlebars. Origin8 twintape, 105 5700 series STI shifters
-Cinelli Vai seatpost holding up a Kore Retrobu (Turbo clone) saddle
-FSA Gossamer 50/34 crankset
-Microshift "White" derailleur set. 100 percent Shimano compatible.
-My original Look PP66 pedals from Walt's Bike Shop back in college.
It came in at 22.5 lbs.

Hi all,
I can finally add my '85 to the list. I have had the frame for about 8 years not knowing how I was going to build it up. I decided to go a little different route and make a nice flat bar, around-town kind of bike out of this one. I went with a Dura Ace 7700 group with downtube shifters except for the cranks/bottom bracket which are Superbe Pro and the headset which is a Dura Ace 7410. The cockpit is all Nitto. The quill adapter is an MTC-04, the stem a UI-85GX, the bars are B206, and the seat post is a Crystal Fellow. Brake levers are Testach Tokyo and the saddle is a Prologo Scratch Pro TS. The wheels are good ol' Mavic Open Pros on Ultegra 6700 hubs shod with 26mm Panaracer Gravel King tires. Finally, the pedals are Shimano PD-A530 SPD/platforms. A big thank you to Metropolis Cycles in Detroit for doing a great job putting it all together! I just picked it up from the shop today but it is only in the 30s here today, so I haven't taken it for a ride yet. I can't wait. It should be fun!

Beautiful Pelotons here. But it does make me a bit sad: here's a registry for '86 Pelotons (with honorable mention to other years 
), but there doesn't seem to be a similar thread for '87 Circuits... which according to earlier posts in this thread replaced the Peloton. Sure, there are threads where people have shown their Circuits on occasion, but I can't find a registry or "Show us your Circuit" thread. I guess the Circuits are left to the general late '80s Schwinn thread.

Beautiful Pelotons, indeed. Do not be saddened as you are not alone in your Circuit love/appreciation! I certainly do and regularly look for them (and pretty much any mid-late '80s top-three Schwinn road bikes) as I've owned an '89 Tempo and truly enjoyed that bike in its original Shimano 105-spec form. Beautiful, well-made bicycles with lovely handling characteristics. Must present some photos of my Peloton in past configurations as well as it's final evolution which will soon come to pass...but I must first go do the ebay/CL scan for them!
