STEYR Cobra folding bike from Austria
Anyone know where I can get some history on these bikes. It is a small folding bike, with wheels that must be under 20", my Father passed away last year and left me this small yellow folding bicycle, it's markings are Steyr made in Austria and on the bar from the gooseneck to the seat is the word "Cobra", I would just like to know the history of these bikes, as I am not sure when or where my Dad obtained it. He did serve in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theater. So I am interested in the history of this bicycle, please post any assistance you may have or suggestions you can make to help me piece together the puzzles of my Dad's past. Thanks, Rey

The bike you describe is almost assuredly a post-1960's bike. Folding bikes were a 'fad' that came in the 60's and then more or less disappeared in the 1970's except for a few exceptions. Steyr is a huge conglomerate that builds a little bit of everything.

I also have the exact bicycle you are describing, bought it brand new in 1972. Bought it in Ca. Mine is in tip top shape. Original tires, which were made by dunlop. Frustrating to not be able to find out much info. on this bike.Very well made bicycle with an esge frame.I believe mine was manufacured in 1970.Loved this bike.
If you find out any more info on yours, let me know. Mine is also orange with cobra in white letters down the side.

You might want to approach the research through the full name of the company: Puch Austro Daimler Steyr. They were located in Graz, Austria.
