Hello guys!

After years of lusting i finally managed to purchase my dream bike, a Tommasini Super Prestige. It's an early 90's SLX frame in an striking pink color scheme, full Dura Ace 7400 line, and Campy headset.
I first saw it a year ago on eBay but couldn't afford it then but about a month ago it showed up again and i couldn't pass it up again. I can't wait to for it to arrive and ride it, it's currently on it's way to me.
I was wondering if you guys know if the info email at Tommasini is still active and if i will get a response if i write them. I wanted to get some info on it, build year etc.

I will post more pictures of it when it arrives but for now all i have are the pictures from the eBay listing.

Oh wow, love that paint scheme! Congratulations! I recently got my dream Tommasini, a 1991 Tommasini Competizione (Post #284 , Page 12 of this thread). I e-mailed Barbara at the Tommasini factory and received a prompt and informative response. Welcome to the lounge!

Thanks for the info Saguaro! It's nice that they still offer customer support and info on old bikes, unlike other brands.
I saw your Tommasini earlier, wow, what a beauty! From what i saw in some pictures mine also has different colors on the sides so i'm guessing it's also a '91 or thereabout, but it only has 2 panels not 3 like yours. In any case it's a really nice and loud design, i can't stop
looking at it. Can't wait for it to arrive!

I've attached some more photos taken by Will (the seller) who is a really nice guy. He is also a photographer hence the nice, quality photos.

I saw this for sale for really cheap a couple of weeks ago and thought I should buy it. It was a bit shabby and had lots of ugly mismatched black parts and I thought I should rescue it. Parts are still a bit of a mish mash but I was already in enough trouble for bringing home another bike and couldn't spend as much as I might have liked I believe it's a EL-OS from 1995.

I'd like to get some info on the one I have, too. I was wondering how to go about doing that. Could you point me in the right direction?

Just picked up this unknown model from CL with full 1990 Campy. The serial is 66US L, obviously all of the other indicators/stickers have been removed. I put on the saddle, pedals, tape and front brake just yesterday (comparing 1980 Campy SR front caliper [with new pads] to 1990[?] SR rear brake caliper). Came with one of those goofy Ofmega Master headsets, swapped that out for a 1980 Campy SR headset I had lying around. I am a much bigger fan of the aesthetics of the older SR components, but sometimes you can't beat the weight of the new. I have a 1985 Strada 175mm crankset I'll eventually get around to putting on it. These are also OLD Mavic sew-ups with original tires, needless to say I am terrified of riding it any real distance. I'll be lacing those sheriff star chorus high-flange hubs to some open-pros for commuting. I work at a shop not 2 miles away, go easy on the criticisms of using this as a commuter! Total cost: $540.

Hello Gentlemen

I have now earned a membership to the Tommasini Lounge.

Perhaps someone of you can help me to identify my Tommasini, year/model/low or high range? It has Shimano 600 components all over except crankset and the rear derailleur witch is Campagnolo. According to stickers its made of ORIA SPECIAL TC 0.8. A nice Blue/white/red paint with a chrome fork.

I attach some snapshots, more and better photos will follow.

And finally, I must say its a very very nice ride.

Looking for info on this bike (what year, etc.)

I'm fairly new to this forum so forgive any technical errors that may occur while I make an attempt to post a picture of a Tommasini that I got for my fiancee. I'm looking for some information on the bike. The year it was made would be a good start. The components on it are not original. They were stripped off before I bought it. Again, any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

That my friend is a highly coveted VELOCEISTA. The frame tubing is Columbus MAX. A stiff frame for strong riders. Tommasini made these in the 90's.

Pretty sure that's an 89. Fairly rare one with the chromed seat lug.

interesting that your model name is in a dark color, while the one on my identical frame (but smaller size) is yellow.

This is my personal Tommasini Tecno. Since April of 2014 (broken femur from Jan-April) I have put 3,000 miles on this bike (2,987 actual). I have done many climbing centuries and a couple of double centuries on it as well. I have several personal bikes that I ride and several others that I ride to evaluate. I have also been doing a lot of tandem racing this year. The Tommasini is my go-to bike. It is my hands-down favorite.

Can I enter the Lounge?

Here's my new (old) Tommasini. I'm working on acquiring components to build her up. It will be Super Record 6 or 7 speed. If anyone has any knowledge of this frame, I'd appreciate it. I emailed Tommasini with some pics but haven't heard back. It's Columbus SL with internal brake cabe routing. Interestingly, it takes a 27.0 seat tube, which confuses me. It's labeled as the "Racing" model, which also is interesting because the sticker is on the top tube, vice the chain stay like I've seen on other Racing models. There's also a damaged "Professional" sticker on the left side of the top tube.

Any advice on removing stickers without doing undue damage to anything else. I want to take off the professional sticker and hopefully replace it if I can find another.

Bianchigirl, you nailed it! I didn't pick up on the difference in the sticker, but it does say "speciale" , you can kind of see it in one of the pics. This is a 58 cm frame so makes sense. My sticker looks like the far right one in first post of this thread:

I put an order in for my custom Tommasini X-Fire in a traditional non-sloping top tube frame. This etched the decal frame is the first sold here in United States and it will be mine :-)

I sent pictures of the frameset to the Tommasini factory and received a prompt reply from Barbara. She confirmed it was a 1991 Competizione with Columbus SL tubing. She said these were made for the US market only in the '90's in order to "offer a top quality frame like the Prestige with a more competitive price". The BB shell is stamped 02 US.





Here is a detail of the seat cluster that I believe is unique to this model, and one of the three color panels. Each panel has 4 colors and they alternate so the bike has a unique appearance depending on where you view it from. The chrome and paint are in excellent condition.





The view from the non-drive side. Normally, I wouldn't show this, but this bike has a different look from this side.





The downtube panel features the color pink facing up, blue on the drive side, orange facing down, and yellow on the non-drive side.

This is my first Italian bike (in fact its my first new bike in 30 years!) and its a hot rod for sure. The ride is firm, but not harsh, smooth, yet responsive. It corners like its riding on rails. I'm still learning to ride it and get the hang of 10 speed indexed ergos and clipless pedals (I'm used to downtube friction shifters and toe clips). Thanks to all the posters here in the Lounge for sharing their beautiful bikes and stories, its a great resource!
Awesome bike, crazy paintjob! Big fan of the older Flite saddles as well, and digging how that Arundel cage looks. What a cool bike!!
