Art Deco bike?
While digging for other bikes in my pile I came across This Murray Bio Tech. This thing was so odd that I had to bring it home. I haven't got around to getting it fixed yet. What is this thing anyways? That was the first time I saw a bike like that.

Definitely an 80's "style" bike. If I had to guess I would say '88 or so.

Aside from some use of lines in the design, there's not much about that bike that says art deco. Perhaps I'm just a stickler for such things.

I said art deco just because I didn't know what else to say about this bike.

Not art deco, but decorated. With copious amounts of plastic. I have to edit that, broken plastic.

I have seen bikes like that around the Twin Cities on occasion. With all the bike riders in the TC you are bound to see just about every bike that came down the pike.

Definitely not representative of the 1950's in any way, shape, or form.
It is a bad relic of the 1980's though. Think Miami Vice on the cheap. Probably the Noogman's bike.

I think Art Deco is actualy from the 1930s. In the 1980s there was a reinterpretation of Art Deco and Art Modern, this is a clear example of that. When I was a kid I thought these were the coolest bikes at Walmart.

I actually owned that exact bike as a teenager. Early '90s if I remember correctly. Those pedals are worse than useless- they're dangerous. Replace them if you plan on using the bike. I nearly spilled into heavy traffic as a kid because my foot slipped in dry conditions. I vividly remember the racking I got, too. Once the pedals were taken care of, I enjoyed the bike for the most part. It's a box mart bike, but it was what I was used to.

LOL The fork is fine, but it is so sloping that it creates the impression that a very heavy rider sat on the bike and the fork bent further under the load.
