Rigida rims

I really don't know where to put this, but this forum is where I live, so this is where I'll do it. I have a pair of rims, with labels that say Rigida Made in USA. I can find no reference to them anywhere. I'm pretty sure I bought them here in México, so I'm wondering if they are just another Méxican knock-off. The Chinese have nothing on the Méxicans, when it comes to knock-offs.
Thanks in advance,

I have some Rigida V-Argent wheels that came off a 98 Trek 420. They are made in France. Decent 36h wheels with Shimano RSX hubs that I have on my commuter.

All Rigida rims I've seen say Made in France. Not sure why anyone would make a fake with Made in USA.

Are you sure they say "Rigida"? And not Rigidos?

This had me curious, so I just dug up an unbuilt pair of the lightest 27" X 23mm-wide Rigida rims that I thought were so unusual.
I bought these in quantity from Winkel, who apparently found them too fragile for their wheelbuilding warranty.

These aren't the Rigidos, they say Made in France. They're singlewall, matte silver ano, 36h and get this, weight only 405g each.

It doesn't surprise me that a rim might be cross-labeled for sale in a particular country. Different makers have different extrusion dies, so why re-invent the wheel, especially between makers who might not be in direct competition regionally, or who might even have some degree of common ownership.

Rigida - Made in France labels I'm familiar with, but not made in US. I think it was a Rigida rim that i bought way back that had a presta hole that i hammered out to accept a schrader valve!

And while we're here:

The Rigida is on the front of my daily rider, and has been for a couple years, at least. Since I bought it here, it's certainly 36 hole; that's all we have here. The Mariluz was on the Schwinn that came from Guadalajara, and is currently hanging on the wall awaiting its next assignment.

I've seen many mountain bike wheels with Rigida rims (including the same type of label with the US flag); they are not knock-offs but I've only seen them on entry level bikes. I think that they are only available as OEM.

I bought that wheel complete, including tire and tube, for around $12USD. If I wasn't concerned about top quality spokes, I could do better buying cheap wheels and breaking them down for the spokes.

Maybe I'm not seeing all of this, but it really only indicates some connection to the USA. It doesn't say anything about being made here.

It could be a deliberate effort to deceive. I recently bought an "American" flag made in China.
