Many people in this forum have done many thing,s for others and have never been acknowledged so I would like to rectify that by publicly saying a BIG thank you to "Photogravity" who sent me two "Milremo" stems all the way from USA to sunny Australia, and never expected anything in return, has anyone everdone you a good turn ? please acknowledge them here !:thumb:

You're more than welcome ozneddy. :) Admittedly, I'm only a small part of the story. Were it not for pastorbobnlnh, it would have been much more difficult since I did not have a stem for my Carlton (he gave me a GB stem for my bike) and one of the stems that was sent Down Under was actually Bob's!

Now on to some thanks to others for their generosity: frankthewelder, RobbieTunes, rhm, rootboy, Henry III, pastorbobnlnh. I'm sure there are others too, so I'll just say a blanket Thank You to all for their shared wisdom and generosity in sharing and helping here on the forums.

There is one thing that you MUST do for us. Take some pictures of the Milremo stems on a bike! Please? :)

There's this scripture verse, which President Obama misused earlier this year when he was advocating for a different income tax structure:

"From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from the one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded." (Luke 12:48

In actuality, this is the conclusion of a longer passage which addresses the topic of knowing the right thing to do in the context of the event. The person who gets it "right" is the one who responds appropriately, who genuinely helps using his/her's full potential, even exceeding the expectations of the recipient, and the perceived capability of the person providing.

I view my dump and my collection of spares filling my basement in this way. If someone here or in my community needs a bike part, or a bike, and low and behold it is sitting in my basement, or I can lend a wrench, or true a wheel, or clean and polish their frame, and in the process it brings joy to their hearts, then I am impelled to do so. Not from guilt or obligation, but in joy of friendship!

In the process of giving, I have received 10 fold from this internet Bike Community we refer to as "C&V."

Bless you all for being so generous--- with your knowledge, your kindness, your creativity, and your spare bike parts! My list of those who I've thanked stretches back almost 7 years, and I'm certain it will continue to grow in the years ahead.

I'm afraid of responding to this thread because so many have helped me that I fear I'll insult someone by forgetting to thank them...honestly, nearly everyone here deserves my gratitude! Anyway, here goes!

About 4 years ago I retired a Nishiki Olympic 12 that I had ridden for 35 years. I never looked at other bikes because my bike was all I ever needed. I started learning about steel vintage bikes 4 years ago in order to replace my old Nishiki, and I have spent lots of time and trial and error with Pinarello, Bianchis, Faggin, Battaglin, Merckx, DeRosa, etc. and the one person who helped me more than anyone else was OFG (OldFatGuy)! John I don't know if you monitor the site still, but here's a huge shout out to OFG. I wish he were back and I wish he were granted the same clemency as we give to other people in society. So here's to you, John! Thanks for all your help!

+1...I know John could be outspoken and difficult (unlike, say, the rest of us), but that guy really brought a lot to the table, and was extremely helpful. I know that I personally owe him a debt, as do others here.
