Ephgrave road frame with paint issues
1 Attachment(s)
Picked this up last week. It is the mate to the track bike I got several weeks ago.
Attachment 243024 Like the track frame it is fillet brazed and a sweet thing indeed. It too has original paint, very good chrome and has lost much of its decaling. Unlike the track frame, the paint has peeled off the fillets in a rather neat band around most of the joints. I'd hate to repaint the whole thing & lose the pinstriping and originality, and touching it up would look awful. Also, being able to see the actual fillets, unpainted, is kinda cool. Leaving it alone is liberating: I can build it with grungy, period correct components & not feel bad that the cranks are scuffed, the hubs aren't polished and the saddle looks like an alligator. Seriously...TWO EPHGRAVES?!?!?

You're a proven skilled hunter Aixaix. Another nice bag. Very interesting the paint didn't stick to the bronze in the long term.
Any theories on why that might be? Curious. Neat old frame. |
