My new (old) bike
I needed to find a bike for riding back and forth to work that I wouldn't have to worry all day about it sitting out in the bike rack. After perusing CL for a while, I came across this gem. I love the look and it rides great. Seller said it was from the 70's but that was about all I got. Can anyone give me any more information about it?

Can you post a couple of closer pictures from the drive (right) side and maybe closer to show model designation and tubing type?
Cool looking bike with possibilities.
Is it illusion, or is the front wheel not in line with the bars? In the photo, it looks like the wheel points left while the bars are straight.

It's a 1977 (or maybe 1978) Raleigh Grand Prix.

They came in 2 tone blue, brown and sivler and silver with blue trim like your bike.

Man, that is a TALL bike! And perhaps that is part of making the fork look odd, but (and I hate to say this) it looks both bent and out of kilter to me.

Thanks for all the helpful info. The angle must have been off on the first pic to make the fork look so funky. Here are a few more pics... I paid $80. How'd I do?
And PS. A tall bike is a necessity for a tall guy. You would not believe how hard it is to find an older bike that is big enough for me around here (South Dakota).

Your size and a nice price - you did great. It has a cotterless crank too - Something people often go through a lot of grief to retrofit on models just a year or two older than yours.
You should however consider replacing the original steel rims with alloy - it will make quite a difference in ride quality and braking.
Here is a link to the catalog at the Headbadge.
