Sticky Change

Can we change the stickies to ride/ build related threads? Examples:

Everyday Pictures
Catch of the day
Where did you ride today etc.?

There is already a market place thread so moving the frame game thread and the facilitators thread would make room for threads that are less commerce driven (not that there is anything wrong with that) and more ride/build related? Doo we have to vote or something? Opinions etc?

I used to enjoy BBM's, jan nikolsenn nlerner's ride and build reports. I also enjoyed the catch of the day thread. When these threads were at the top of the screen it was very easy to find them and get invoved. Now not so much. Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?

I only flip bikes now, so I'm only interested in what things are worth (that and complaining about not being able to find cheap goods on which to make a killing).

I'd like to see more emphasis on making metal sculpture and plant hangers out of old bicycles. Can we have a sticky just for that?

Favorite wine or champagne that you like to have while out on a ride? Personally I like a good stoudt while riding but there might be something wrong w me

Seriously though, I wouldn't mind seeing the stickies be more project/ride based. I think this subforum focuses too much on what's it worth and look at the steal I just got (those threads are ok) and not enough about what we do w our ridiculous amounts of bikes. If you hang your bike on your living room wall, show a picture, if you rode to the coffee shop, show a picture. There is too much emphasis on coveting bike stuff! Ride damnit, ride! Please take pictures and share w us

What do you mean "room"? There's room for all kinds of threads, isn't there?

But I agree that flipping bikes can be considered different from fixing up old bikes for ourselves. They overlap sometimes, but some people are interested in only one or the other.

Another stupid idea. Maybe I should go start a Google group, for like minded folks instead.

Let me take a look. PM me your suggestions, as well. I don't have a problem with changing lineup on the stickies...........it just hasn't been looked at before now because no one asked. we figure if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Neal,

Did you give up ridding and enter the circus as a performer? Can you juggle bikes? How about spin bikes like those sign holders we see on the street corners in urban and suburban areas (hasn't invaded rural NH yet)?

Or are you talking about doing flips over your bike like some gymnastic routine?

I'm confused.

Assuming nobody minds a serious reply to this thread, I suggest the "where in the world is C&V" thread be unstickied. It's a great idea but since anyone can go onto the map and move people around, accidentally I'm sure, it is really out of whack. I mean, seriously, is there really that much good cycling out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean?

Perhaps C&V should be divided into two forums, one for restoring and riding and even collecting old bikes, the other for flipping.

The "what's it worth" forum could be retro-fitted to be the "what's it worth + flipping" forum, probably.

Yeah, but I doubt it's worth it. Segregating the "what's it worth" queries did not, in my opinion, make the forum better; it drew off a lot of noobs who found interesting stuff and often weren't interested in selling it anyway. It's perfectly normal for an uninitiated person to wonder what something is worth, just as a way of orienting themselves to a subject they know nothing about. Likewise, the flippers find a lot of interesting stuff. It's a bummer that they're more interested in money than in old bikes, but whatever. We are who we are, they are who they are, and I'm not interested in picking a fight with anyone.
