Help Buying late 80's/early 90's Trek 1200

Here's the ad:

The guy is asking nearly $300, but after doing some research, I've seen the bikes go for $100-$150. He says that it comes with Armadillo Kevlar tires that are worth $100, so this is making me uncertain as to what price I should ask for...

Are the tires really worth $100? If so, I might ask him to come down to $200-250 since it sold to others for $100-150.

I'm pretty new and I want to get into road biking in central park in NYC. I'm not planning on riding on any real rough terrain. I know the Trek 1200 is a generally well regarded bike, but this one is almost as old as I am! When I asked him what year it was, he said "I am not sure, maybe early 90s", so my plan is to look up the serial number when I go check the bike out tomorrow.

From general internet image searches, the bike looks closes to a 1988 Trek 1200 here:

Does anyone have a better idea of what year the bike in the craiglist ad could be from?
