paint stripping my puch

i started stripping and it is really slow going, it takes so many coats just to break the surface.

stubborn paint!

If aircraft stripper was available i would be using it.

Im using nitromors which is known to be pretty good.

I do not want to have an idiot sandblast a 531 frame, the tubes are so thin and blasting peens the surface which could weaken it.
plus there is chrome under the paint i dont want to damage.

guess its going to be a slow go..

Two things you might do...

-Wrap the stripper in cellophane so it stays moist the longest time possible.

-Use an infared stripping tool/light.

Good luck...

It's a messy job. One application never gets all of it. Wear gloves!

progress- front forks almost done.

the frame tube is very slow going.

I think the key issue is patience.

I dabble it on and go upstairs, come back in an hour, clean and reapply.

might take a few days but its better then fighting it off

Stripping varnish of a boat is simple with a heatgun, as the varnish absorbs the heat.

a metal frame is totally different game, it does not effect the paint as much.

have not figured out how to get the glued on headbadge off?!?!

Last one I did I sprayed with stripper, let it sit a while then used a pressure washer to remove the paint. worked really well and removed at least 90% of the paint in one go.
