I got this really awesome bike bottle. It says "Cycles Marinoni Canada." I really like it. It came with a bike, too.

Very nice bike, I especially like the colour scheme.

Is the Super Record stuff original? Or is this the one you had sent from NYC, and frame/fork only?

Curious as to what year this is (it shares some details with my 1990, such as the fork crown and head tube lugs, but I think I see a nutted front brake, and certainly different seat stay ends). Is there a serial number on the BB?

Counting the 'signature' and all of the 'M 'engravings along with the standard decals, they sure made certain you know where this came from: at least 11 'marks', counting the presumed BB cutout, by my count.

This is the frame and fork my girlfriend bought and shipped from NYC! I emailed Marinoni and got all the info. It's an '87 Marinoni Special, with SP tubing. It originally had a Gipiemme group. The headset and bottom bracket were original. The rest of the parts I hung on it. Mostly super record, but American Special seatpost, shimano aero brake levers, and Kyokuto top run pedals.

I took it out for a leisurely ride this morning and noticed that the fixed cup on the bottom bracket was working itself loose. I should have checked it out before I built it up! I'm going to switch out the Gipiemmel bottom bracket with a super record one I have laying around. The gipiemme's spindle is copper plated. Anyone ever seen anything like that?

My girlfriend thinks I wanted it just because it has Green Bay Packer colors!

Now that is a great looking bike. I had a Marinoni Special made out of SLX, it tacked like it was on rails. Enjoy it.

Thanks! At first I was hoping it would be SL or SLX, but I am liking the stiffness of the SP compared to how squishy my last SL tubed frame was.

Great bicycle and I, too, like the colors. And the water bottle, great score. They do come up on Ebay from time to time, in case you are interested. And I found one several years ago, although I have never actually used it...

I have had my 1976 Marinoni for a long time now, and I have owned three or four others, including this lovely 2000 Squadra...

And, interestingly enough, a fellow from Toronto, a man in his seventies with arthritis, invited me to purchase his collection of bicycles, including a 1954 Claude Butler, a 1979 Marinoni and a 1988 Marinoni.

He also sent me pictures of some of his spare odds and ends that he wishes to sell off also. How about a set of alloy handlebar mounted water bottles with cork stoppers?

Sadly, my pockets are empty and my plan is still to eliminate my inventory of flippers, and reduce my personal collection to three bikes. Pretty sure that my Marinoni Quebec will remain a keeper, but I do offer it for sale now and again...

And you could always get a yellow 'Marinoni' bottle cage from Velomakak in Montreal (they're on ebay...or I'll be by there in a month).

Marinoni, as well as being big on marking up their bikes with those engravings and other accoutrements, definitely likes to show their colours with additional schwag. The one I picked up recently also has Marinoni 'M' buckles on the toe straps...

I notice those bar end plugs and thought they were a bit overpriced as well. I am using wine corks right now... I was checking out your new marinoni, too. there was a rash of marinoni postings the past week or two, it seems.

Between this beauty and the Miyata 912 I use for commuting, I have all the bikes I'll ever want. How long until something convinces me otherwise??

Randy, your website's section on Marinonis put them on the map for me. Did you have one up on ebay a while back, too? I was lusting after that for a bit, but it was way too small for me, if I recall.
