Front dr to use with Cyclone-2 rear?

I'm putting parts together to build up my bike after paint and I'm not sure what front dr is most appropriate to go along with a Cyclone-2 long cage rear.

I'm sure you guys know what I should use up front and any help is greatly appreciated.

Cyclone Mk II rear derailleur? I've seen those matched with Cyclone Mk II front derailleurs, or with Suntour NSL.

Thanks, Yes it's a Mk II.

Do you you think it would look horribly out of place to use a Suntour-VX or a Suntour-7 with it?

If it was my bike and I wasn't doing a restoration I'd have NO qualms about pairing it to a Suntour Vx.

Hey Jim, did you mean you "would" have qualms or did you leave out the word "no"?

I was leaning towards the Vx personally.

If that was all I had, I would not hesitate to go with the VX but my experience is too limited, regarding the 7, to comment on its vices or virtues. That said, I would then get my butt to Ebay and purchase the correct front derailleur. There are a few for sale right now.

Duhhhh.....

Of course I meant no qualms. I fixed it, thanks to your correction.

Just a note about the Mk2 RD - My experience with it is limited to just one and a fraction. The cage spring broke so I found a replacement in an inexpensive ebay package of derailleurs for parts. It struck me that the design was perfect for trapping water in the spring cavity. So a rusty spring wasn't a surprise. And of course when metal pieces get rusty they break easily. You might want to check yours.

The rd I have is in great shape but I will double check the spring, I actually have another for parts if I need it.

I also did receive a PM from one member about their experience with a Cyclone Mk2 front, apparently theirs had a weak pivot and it broke. I'll take a look at the ones on E-bay and see what they look like.

Thanks all!

Isn't the Suntour 7 the one with all the holes drilled in it? I think I'd much prefer one of the other models.

I have two 7s of different ages, neither has holes in it but I think I know what you're talking about.
