Help with bizarre Hercules
 

I have a Hercules bike that I can't find on the Internet anywhere and two local "experts " have never seen anything like it. You have you push down with both feet simultaneously which makes the seat go up and then sit down again to make it go. The movement is elliptical like. Anybody know anything?:twitchy:

Kinda cool in the Lemon Crate collector type way, but yeah, I don't recall seeing anything like that before.

Wait till you see a vid of him riding it, not very practical for travel but a definite attention getter!

Anybody have an idea of value?

Well, you're right, that is truly bizarre. Its value would depend entirely on finding someone who wants it (which will be tricky), how bad s/he wants it, and how eager you are to get rid of it. In other words, I don't think it's worth much (but what do I know).

Right. It's a strange phenomenon, but we encounter it here all the time. Things that are widely known as high end expensive bikes like a Schwinn Paramount command very high prices, while lesser known brands of similar quality, or often higher quality, do not. There are a lot of Schwinn Paramounts out there, but there are even more people out there who want one. Your Hercules may be very rare indeed (I don't know!) but people who want one are also very rare. If you can find two such people and get them into a bidding war, it may be worth quite a bit. But if you find only one person who wants it, the price won't be as high. If you can't find anyone who wants it, and you need to get it off your sofa, well, I think you get the picture.
