nikishi puzzler
hi,new to the forum, looking for advice.......recently rescued a nikishi custom sport from the tip, really like its looks, but unsure of which direction to take...should i restore as is,using vintage suntour components,or strip it and refit with say shimano or campy?
i'm tending to go with original refurb, but 10 gears just not enough for the terrain round here...
advice please

It usually isn't the number of gears but the range. Cheaper to change freewheel and possibly chainrings than go through a complete drivetrain upgrade. What has to be replaced? Pics help a lot.

You gonna eat that?
You can get up to 7 gears relatively easily (pushing the spacing from 120 to 126 mm) and get the advantage of ramped freewheels while still keeping that vintage look.
