Well, the rainy day came.
I grabbed my Tool Box and hat with the 3-gear Logo
and said a few choice words on my knees.

What I found is the chains' weak link;
the plastic retainer box which holds the three plungers, that select the three speeds
had absorbed lubricant and bind the rotating nylon? Cam.

I went to the local Bike shop to buy/order a new plastic Retainer Box.
The owner said he used to sell Ross Bikes, and was intrigued by the Dana.
A call to his jobber found no Retainer Boxes available.

But if he had this Unique combination, he would ask $400.00 for it.
Wow ! - $400. for my $1. Bike ! . . . CraigsList; here I come.

If it sells, I made a great investment.
If not, I'll ride it with my head held high.
I never owned a $400. Bike before

Have a great Memorial Day,
Nevin

Well you still don't own a $400 bike...

You own a $75 bike, with a $100 Dana transmission. And those are generous estimates.

An NOS Dana just sold on ebay for $110... still new in its box.

Hope springs eternal, it would seem. Parts wouldn't be available for the Dana. If you want it to work you'll have to open your toolbox, put on your hat and figure something out.

If it sells you'll make a profit. It'll be a stretch to sell a bike like that one for much more than $100. I'd be content with that, and I've bought really good, functional and attractive bikes for less. How your bike store guy arrived at $400 while knowing nothing about its salient features is a mystery.

$400, the only way that bike would be worth $400 dollars is if there were 3 hundred dollar bills rolled up and stuffed in the handle bars. I would make a deal with the guy that said it's worth that much, tell him he can have it for $200 & he can double his money
