I was one of the people responsible for working on Juli Furtado's Yeti that used these parts. We were sponsored by Campagnolo and we were around those guys all the time. They made a large investment in MTB racing and much of it was squandered on a massive truck by the people contracted to provide support and a near-miss at a world championship.
I wasn't involved in the business part of it and really had no idea who Mr. Campagnolo was or that any of this road bike stuff was a big deal (no kidding). I actually have met some of the people I study and read about now and it causes me a bit of distress. I met Eddy Merckx and said "hey dude".

Yeah.. But I want to try single speed anyway for a few gorgeous but mostly flat valley trails, so SS it is. Now the quest for the right frame continues! And brw thanks for your review of the 3 kinds of mtb drops, really good info for my build.

I have a third gruppo in black on hold for my latest mtb, a cinelli argentovivo
which, funny enough, also comes with rigida rims

Pinarello is getting a refurb, so nos gruppo, cinelli is the only one that can legitimatly call itself an mtb frame, so used campagnolo olympus black on that, and i think i will just powder coat it so i wont be tp precious about getting dirty or crashing off road on it
I'm in the race in ole' Tuscany, but can't confirm an appearance yet

The MTB fitted with Campy were very rare and are highly collectible.

Not that I know off, many people in the MTB world where I live that I know are hardcore early 90's to mid 90's even late 90's Shimano stuff. Most of the mountain bikes produced from the mid 80's to the mid 90's anf for sale were mostly shimano equiped at 95% if not 98%

Somehow missed this thread over the years but have a crumb to contribute. Waaaay back I built up an MTB out of a damaged Austro-Daimler Inter 10 531 road frame and a CroMo cruiser fork. This was in '83 and I had already years before that purchased a pair of Campy large flange hubs that I found for sale in an advertising newspaper (remember those?) called the Trading Post. Twenty bucks, including the oversized spoke holes. Built those up with 105 ga. spokes on Araya 7X rims and then cobbled the rest together.
Here it is shortly after completion.

When that frame broke I swapped the parts over to a Cimarron frameset I got from the shop I was working at.

The front. Somebody evidently tried drilling new, smaller holes between the oversized ones.

And the rear.

That's all folks. Never been a Campy guy.
Still have the bike, by the way, and it's awaiting a drop bar conversion.
