1989 RB-1 missing headset spacer

I lost it, no idea where it is. I'm unsure what I can use in its place, but I did like the added height. Will any spacer work? Stupid parts bin manager...

Any 1" spacer will work. If the fork is keyed, you may want to use a keyed one.

Keyed means there is a slot in the steerer that corresponds to a tab on the spacer... it is not essential for a spacer to have the tab.

The keyway really serves to keep things like brake hangars aligned.

Just curious, what added height were you getting? the 1/32 inch In the headset itself?

It's easiest to see it here:

Second photo, just down, shows it best. Still, any spacer will work?

You just need to determine the correct height. A ruler will do it. What's a parts bin manager?

The one in the photo looks to be about 20mm. If you send me an email (see signature) I'll drop a couple 10mm spacers in the mail to you on Monday.

A parts bin manager is me...

Thanks CJL, email to follow. I've not used spacers inside the headset before, the ones on my other bike are above it. Installation is otherwise the same?
