would you rather have an expensive, state-of-the-art joke made from carbon, that has to be replaced after every little crash, or a durable, repairable steel one that lasts a lifetime?

I doubt I could have put it more eloquently myself.

BTW, I saw the coolest old bike in the window of a building here in Portland Maine this morning. I took a few pictures and will post them to the forums when I get a chance. It has some very elegant design ideas and is a steel frame of some sort.

When you're down and troubled and you need a helping hand, remember that this is how The Grant thinks of you...

"The hard part is leaving, when I’m thinking hmm, if this person were closer, he or she’d be a normal regular pal."

Great quote! You're inspiring me to possibly purchase that book. Is it, perchance, being sold on the rivbike.com website?

Well, what did you buy? Did you get some free soap? I'd probably go to see the place and buy some inner tubes.

He spoke to you and you survived ? I just thought he'd have to have a go-between , like a St. Gabriel or something so you didn't burst into flame or have your head cave in if he spoke directly to you .

I have to admit that, were I to take the falls on a bike, it would have to be a Hunqapillar. GP's choice was spot on.

So while the Hunqapillar was a great choice for the falls, the Bleriot was not the best choice for a channel crossing. Arguably an Atlantis with an Sturmey AW IGH fitted would be THE best choice.
