Another 3RENSHO: What should I do with it?

Hey C&V, another day another bike!

About a week ago I was browsing the appraisals thread and saw this: 1983-3rensho-Road-Frame and quickly PM'ed the OP asking if I could buy it from him. Then I realized it was about a year old, damn. But then I saw rcschafer's post saying that he just picked it up but was about to sell it. another PM! After some back and forth, the frame was on it's way to me. 8 days after I saw the original thread, this impressively packed frame showed up. I mean it was so well packed it made me feel ashamed about all the packages I've ever sent out (and there was a plethora foam and bubbles in the box). Thanks again rcschafer!

Why another 3rensho? Well, why not haha!? I could not pass it up AND this one will fit me much better than the first (54cm vs 48cm). I think my brother will be getting the 48.. The frame itself is in much better shape than I anticipated. Yes there is a bit of rust on the seat/chainstays and the down tube but nothing I can't overlook. The only real problem I'll need to address quickly is the fork. I've thought about sending it to cyclart or yellowjersey but I think the price quotes were 300-450 just for a fork re-chrome, jeez. I've been looking locally too but with no luck. My options are to repaint & re-decal the whole bike or just fix the fork: What do you think? Any advice would be appreciated.

Also, I am planning on putting a Suntour Superbe or Superbe Pro groupset on the bike asap, opinions between the two are also welcome. But for now it will be built up with an injured campagnolo super record groupset.

3rensho Super Record Export
Year: 1982 (according to Andrew Muzi)
Serial: A64-545
Measurements ctc: 54cm st, 55cm tt
Headset: Suntour Superbe Pro
BB: Omas 1.37x24
Dropouts: Shimano

Here she is, I put some wheels on to see if it would size up to my Masi and it looks like it will do!
Terribly crappy pictures are temporary.

Ridiculously good packing

Size comparison to Masi

Mock up with mostly Super Record

And it's red but weirdly similar to my orange Masi

Fantastic, I always have wanted a 3Rensho. I would rechrome the fork, and try to save the paint. If not, repaint it back to original condition.

I had a fork re-chromed on a friends bike. It was $100 and looks beautiful.

Anyone have experience with Andy Gilmour in Tucson, AZ? repaint apparently costs $50 for sandblasting $250 for basic paint. Just wondering if the quality is any good.

Andy Gilmour does fantastic frame building, I bet his painting is equally good (but no firsthand experience of that). I would trust him.
