Help identifying this Schwinn
2 Attachment(s)
Picked up this frame but am having a lot of trouble identifying what it is. The serial number indicates that it's a Giant built Schwinn built February 1982. However, the head badge says Chicago but the Julian dating on it seems to be in line. But yea... the fork is what is really throwing me off. Familiar to anyone?

Its been crashed, pretty seriously. Or at least the fork has been.

It's a Schwinn Squiggly.

Low end. The forks are trashed. I would find a different frame to use.

Looks pretty sketchy, but if you're determined to learn more about it, take yourself over to schwinnbikeforum.com. They'll help you out.

Looks like a Schwinn World Sport with a bent fork and no paint. This frame is pretty much toast if your planning a build you need to find a different frame.
|
oh lord, that fork is hilarious
|
Looks like you got forked. Hope you didn't pay a lot.

Sorry for the late reply everyone and thanks for all the responses. I picked this up at no cost and was just interested in finding out what it was since I'm now seriously getting into bikes. Some of you commented about not being able to use the frame anymore, but if the problem is the fork then can't the fork just be replaced?

Yes, just the fork can be replaced. However, for the effort of finding a compatible fork, painting the frame, and finding the rest of the parts, you would be better off finding a complete used bike and customize from there.
