Hello, I need help identifying a firestone bike. I was able to recover the following info from the frame: the words "speed cruiser" which is prolly the model, and the serial #M201829, i think its supposed to tell the year the bike was made. The colors are red and white. If someone out there could supply me with a year, model, and maybe a pic, that would be grea. It is a single speed w/ a kick back brake i believe. Thanx

Have you tried the forums at oldroads.com?
Firestone's were the same as Monark's, 1950's balloon tire bikes. Firestone had a model called the "Super Cruiser", I think. It was the same as the Monark Super Deluxe. There is a pic of one in the book "evolution of the Bicycle vol 2" Page 101. which is readily available and an excellent resource for old bike pics.If ya need parts for one of these, PM me, I may be able to help.

Is your bike similar to mine? I've got a photo on this thread in the Winter Cycling area....

Depending on the brand, there is a possibility that some components, like the hubs, may have an open format date code. Usually it is two numbers that represent the last two digits of the year of manufacture. Of course, this does not necessarily represent the exact year the bicycle was manufactured, but it is most likely within a year, unless the part has been replaced.
